That sounds fierce posh altogetherIs his surname just Martin pronounced as the same as with an English accent? I always read it with a French accent, I call him Me- hole MarTan
Whilst I agree with this. Pubs and restaurants were open over the summer and as far as I have seen they didn’t contribute to a huge spread of cases. There's no such thing as a Covid secure pub. We can have all the measures, Perspex, mask, QR code you like, but the issue is people doing it. Again, it's not just a case of people being bored, it's a case of what's more important? A pint or a life? I know it sounds extreme but that's what it really is. Do you really believe someone would stay away from the pub if they were ill. Because I know from the pub I live in, that they wouldn't. And it would be lovely if everyone followed the rules, if everyone appreciated the effort we put in to make things 'safe' but they don't. You can go in with the best intentions, but what happens 5 pints in? You start hugging your pals and end up (near enough) sat on their knees while the people behind the bar wonder why they bothered at all.
It did in the NE, it rose gradually since they reopened and we were in a mess before schools even opened.Whilst I agree with this. Pubs and restaurants were open over the summer and as far as I have seen they didn’t contribute to a huge spread of cases.
At some point things have to change from the mentality of not being able to do anything because of covid to living with covid. Hopefully the vaccines will start to offer enough protection we can all learn to live with it rather than how we are living right now. These lockdowns are not to irradiate covid but protect the NHS so it can cope.
Because we are still overwhelmed. It wouldn't take much at all to swamp the NHS. We already have other areas closed, ops cancelled and building waiting times. Can we please just get it back to manageable before we start opening everything up again. There doesn’t seem to be a plan for hospitality openings.
if hospital cases have stabilised, surely restrictions should be lifted sooner. I don’t like this narrative of “have a great summer” - what about all the months before that?
Also more people got the flu shot. I did and had never had it before.I think it’s definitely from that and mainly people isolating and social distancing!
It’s still part of the winter pressures period for nhs , we are always overwhelmed pre covid so on top of covid , we are still struggling so nhs can’t afford restrictions to relax this earlyThere doesn’t seem to be a plan for hospitality openings.

There isn't a plan for anything opening at the moment. Even the English schools going back in March isn't confirmed. There doesn’t seem to be a plan for hospitality openings.

What was the daily rate roughly meant to be to hit the targets?Wow now today there have been over 600k doses administered! Breaking yesterday’s 490k record for the UK. Hopefully they can keep this up.
I think it was 2 to 3 million a week but not sure. Still 6m to go in just over 2 weeks! What was the daily rate roughly meant to be to hit the targets?
I agree. We were watching a show last night and the people were at a restaurant and I said "I don't think I will want to drink from a restaurant glass again" and my husband agreed, lol. The idea of eating out freaks me outI think I’m going to have real anxiety when things open up again it’s going to be taken away again. It’s going to take me a long time to relax, does that make sense?
Good to hear, hope it continues! This is something I am a little confused about though, how will they know if the lockdown is causing the decline or the vaccine? Not far off 15% being vaccinated and it’s gaining speed quite quickly!
My trust is very representative of the numbers and although we still have very sick patients with high death rates the admissions have come
down quite significantly. Everything crossed it continues
