Batteries are exempt from the non-essential classification (right hand column). Not defending this lunacy but they are able to sell batteries.According to that Tesco list batteries are non essential. Having walked into town this morning to get the battery that my husbands car requires for his keyless entry car key that his car has been nagging him about all weekend I beg to differ
Not sure even as the boss that the " i can't come to work, I can't get in the car" excuse would wash for 17 days
same, I have heard the most ridiculous things from uni students now. One student told me her lectures had been basically all moved to youtube! imagine paying 9000 a year to watch you tube videos and then not even enjoy the rest of uni, socialising/finding yourself etcIf I had any family members at uni right now, I would tell them to come home now, self isolate and stay home. They are absolutely not needed on campus and its a farce that they were manipulated into signing these leases with the belief everything would be in place for smaller face to face classes when in reality, they're not even in for ONE day anymore!!
Me neither although I do wonder what the freshers expected to happen. This second wave was so likely to come to pass. I feel really sorry for them as at that age you just want to strike out on your own and starting uni is such an exciting milestone but if they had the hindsight of age like me (lol) they would have waited a year. I really feel for them as they have been well and truly shafted. If its to limit time why not issue different colour bands at the door like swimming or trampoline park and once their times up they out and new round shoppers let in but let people buy what they want.
Unis all need to go online until at least xmas.
I would not be happy if my child was a student.

it says ‘special buy products’ maybe the more expensive items will still be for saleIt would appear its a mistake on Tescos part, they need to be ashamed.
I can’t help but think this is some reason why people are getting fed up with the rules too. At least when we had the daily briefings it felt like constant communication from the top now we get drip fed mostly speculation from newspapers til we get a big announcement then no further updates, so for example I know they can’t specify a end date but we’ve all been put in these tiers and people want reassurance on when it’ll end so to speak, now it just feels like you’re on your own deal with it until Government decide to spring another announcementI feel like Boris really should be talking to us all a bit more. In March we were having daily updates. Now it just feels like we're in free fall.
Completely agree. Feels like them (Government) and us.I can’t help but think this is some reason why people are getting fed up with the rules too. Unfortunately I think a lot of students did want to defer their place for a year and weren't allowed to by the universities as the unis aren't stupid, and knew how many would do it. They need the money now, and then spaces would be seriously limited next year too I suppose, for the next batch coming out of sixth form. So it was go and try to make the best of it, or lose the space completely and potentially have a much harder time getting offered it again next year. I really feel for them, I think they've totally been between a rock and a hard place.I think if it were my child I would have really put pressure on them to wait a year. Whilst we didn't expect it to be this bad, it was pretty obvious they wouldn't be sweating on a packed dancefloor and snogging randoms in Sept 2020. Which lets face it is the Fresher experience
Although covid is comparable to the awful freshers flu. GAH, I was out of action for months with that.
Yeah you'd think given the confusion of the tier system that he'd be on every night to answer questions.I feel like Boris really should be talking to us all a bit more. In March we were having daily updates. Now it just feels like we're in free fall.
Say what you like about Nicola Sturgeon but she speaks and takes media questions every day, she’s visible.I feel like Boris really should be talking to us all a bit more. In March we were having daily updates. Now it just feels like we're in free fall.
No it’s all true about the hospitals https://news.sky.com/story/coronavi...trictions-tier-changes-and-briefings-12103666Does anyone know when Boris is due to give another briefing?
When I look at the figures, they are skyrocketing out of control so quickly, hospitals can't cope any more, staff are exhausted, burning out, off self isolating or resigning when they should be looked after.
Am I imaging this, or was it mentioned that medics working in the forces were being drafted in to help wherever possible.
Sorry I know you asked someone else but I’m wondering if tier 4 will be the same as wales firebreak: advice is to stay at home, all non essential shops closed and allowed out for exercise/work/shopping etc only? Basically same as first lockdown except we don’t have time limits on exercise anymore because that was quite frankly ridiculous! Thanks Monga, I'd been checking on the BBC web page. I'm expecting West Yorkshire going into Tier 3 any day now, and the article you posted the link for considers some parts of Yorkshire heading towards a Tier 4. Do you know what the difference is between Tier 3 and 4. This is so frightening now.
