2nd person has died with the plague in China since Sunday ,they've put restrictions around their home, that country needs some serious disease control

Congratulations! I had a wedding today at work and melted my tits off. I hope it went well. The mask thing is bullshit.

There's another new symptom now ,persistent hiccups is the next thing that could signify you have it ..
As someone who always has hiccups this is terrible news. I already get faux coughs follows by anxiety when I’m in trapped in a queue, now I need to worry about hiccuping too

IMO I think that you’re being perfectly reasonable. From almost three decades of experience, an angsty MIL can cause so much much strife ... my MIL caused such misery that we ended up at Relate, and almost separated ....... which is what she’s always wanted to happen!
However, if you are worried about quarantine then just tell her that two weeks of unpaid leave isn’t doable. Yes, she probably will kick off big time, but it’s your life, not hers. Good luck!

Actually testing is increasing quite a bit:

Tests are increasing at my site, I redeployed through my company to covid 19 tester 9 weeks ago and initially we were doing 30 - 40 tears a day through our lane daily (1 of 5 lanes). It remained static for about 6 weeks, the last 6 shifts I have worked we have jumped to 170+ daily the whole site was up 700 from 300 daily in the last 2 weeks!! We still have more capacity and we have a mobile walk in site (I work in a drive through facility and am an assisted tester - meaning I do the swabbing myself) that tour the locallity for those that have no car to provide tests, they are also seeing a bigger uptake in testing. Our local press are reporting we have more cases day on day , but that's down to the testing increase.

More and more sites are opening since I started so there is more capacity and anyone can get a test.

It is hoped that many of the test sites will eventually be able to offer the antibodie tests when they become available on the nhs (our site manager has had discussions with the powers at be) and eventually offer Mass vaccination sites. When I spoke to to my regional manager about how long I may be in my new role he suggested 12 months plus.

Are these people that are getting tested asymptomatic ? surely it means more people are showing symptoms if they're looking to be tested ,which tells me cases are increasing ...

Greece aren’t swabbing on arrival. We’ve all just returned from a week in Greece. No temp checks or anything
How come ? It’s on the government website and the foreign office website too plus our tour operator confirmed this the other day
The swabbing goes off the qr code you fill in the day prior depending what number you generate but uk travellers generate the code to get swabbed

How come it always seems to be China with these problems? Do other countries have them too and we just don't hear?

We were informed they may test on arrival, I didn’t see anyone being tested/sent to the screening area.
We had the QR code obviously but nothing further was done. That was Athens.
I guess it depends on which country you’re arriving from. We flew from Manchester.
Relatives flew from Stansted and they also weren’t swabbed.

I know America's awful but worldometer says 6%population.
Doesn't say comparative % for UK and other countries.

I dident realise the outbreak Aberdeen gives them greater rate of infection than Blackburn case still rising so guess lockdown could be extended.

Why's Europe got such higher rates of Infection right now?
Much higher than UK hence why we quite right to quarantine.
Do we expect higher rates if infection to translate into hospital admissions and even deaths again?
Especially now sheilding has ended.

Had chuckle at Preston public health message to young people please don't kill your granny.
They saying young people socialising caching it and spreading it their area.
However so many grannies here have fan social life at pubs , restaurents and shops.
Babysitting their immune school age grandkids that prpbably give them covid next month.

I hope they do more walk in test sites.
As random. Drive through at remote locations like airport seem really discriminatory towards low income families without cars.

What an odd article, the body of text doesn’t say anything about the “world’s top epidemiologists saying masks don’t work”. That’s literally a headline plucked from the air. In fact the conclusion is America shouldn’t make people wear masks because “muh freedom” and because humans will naturally not engage in risky behaviour which hardly seems accurate given the growth of cases in the US.

Until they make up their minds whether masks are effective or not it’s probably best to wear them. I have read that the amount of virus you get infected with can contribute to how ill you get. I’m not sure if that’s proven yet but I can see the logic in it so masks may mean that if you do get exposed to the virus it’s less of it
