it’s been good to see leannes character soften from the madam she was.

The Hayley/Roy marriage story line shows how well soaps can reflect issues that will in the long term change our society. The characters reflect the fact that the majority of people believe in love and don’t care what package it comes in but there are and always will be bigots like Les Battersby. Corrie needs to get back to that. Really enjoyed the wedding and the fact they managed to include comedy. Clever!
The comedy in this wedding story was brilliant especially Toyah coming down the ladder and the stopping of the wedding cars. Where is that Toyah today? In his own way Tyrone also brings comedy to Classic Corrie.
All the characters mingled and worked well together. Ashley round at Curley’s with the guys yet he also interacts well with Maud. You had a big men group back then who all socialised whether married or single too. Most of the characters were likeable too, very few weren’t and they were written purposely dislikable like Lez and Linda.

Didn’t realise what a little legend Emily Bishop was, she’s really cool for an old girl, I don’t remember noticing this years ago
I agree, the wedding scenes and the obvious love Roy and Hayley share made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
Finally caught up - Roy and Hayley 
. My favourite part of catching up with Corrie again was the huge smile on Roy’s face when he saw Hayley at the airport in Amsterdam. The beauty and importance of their relationship was completely lost first time.
And now I’m watching Gail humph and sigh because Tedious Tilsley has gone back to Canada…🥱. She’s crying, Leanne’s crying and we’re all

What I meant to say was, the importance of Roy and Hayley’s relationship was completely lost on me the first time around. I’m sure it was a very powerful storyline at the time, when sadly there were far too many who shared the views of Les Battersby
I’ve been thinking long about the Roy and Hayley storyline a lot this past few weeks, and how much we as a society have changed for the better (same sex marriage is legal, better laws protecting LGBTQ people, easier for trans people to change their documents) but yet we’ve almost gone backwards, too. Bigots arguing over pro-nouns, calling people snowflakes, arguing over who should be allowed in sports teams and toilets etc, but really, it’s just a person born into the wrong body who wants to lead a normal, often uneventful life like everyone else, maybe fall in love, be “one of the girls” like Hayley desperately wanted. That’s what it’s all about. It may be difficult to understand for some, but it’s not their business. The whole matter has been over complicated and perhaps it’s going to take Hayleys story again to remind people that everyone deserves a happy life, and everything else is just noise.

I thought the same, it’s actually great to see how far we’ve come from then to now. I thought it was actually quite ‘brave’ of coronation street to run a storyline like this at that particular time and that it was really well made as well. I can’t actually remember because I was only a child when it aired but I’m sure there wouldn’t of been many other storylines like that? Agree more storylines like this would be good!

Oh ruin my day why don't you! I did find joy in that giant spot on Nick's forehead in his leaving episodes.
I can't get over how much work Leanne has done to her face over the years, she's really pretty originally, a bit hard faced now.
Do you think she has had much done or has she got thinner and older. She is not anyone I ever thought had had any done or am I not very observant ?
I don’t think she has - I think she’s just very thin, aged and had too many acting storylines where she’s had to be “concerned” and her face has stuck like that.
Obviously aside from the whole Les/Journalists element, the only down side to the wedding, in my opinion, was the Great Uncle changing his mind so quickly. He went from telling Hayley to put her trousers on and get down to the pub for dominoes to walking her up the ‘aisle’ in about 10 minutes. Obviously it’s not completely beyond the realms of possibility but I would imagine that in the late 90s - and sadly probably still nowadays - this wouldn’t have been the happy ending those in Hayley’s position would have got.
It was a very powerful storyline and I shed a wee tear. The acting was outstanding.
