There's also lots of editing involved for drama/entertainment. Was all that clearing up really happening as people were queuing waiting to get in? Or was it actually separate days?

This is what I said too. Watched it with my partner who has worked extensively in hospitality over the years, including opening new venues, and although we were both shocked at the lack of a trial run, I also have a film/tv background and said we didn't know how much had been edited to fit the narrative they wanted to give on the show.

It still give me the absolute fear though seeing the crowds of people waiting for tables and there being no prices on the menu or any electricity! So disorganised. Hospitality trauma never leaves you

I've only watched first episode so far. Her cleaning the yard was one of those things you just don't think of as being a job. Had it looking tidy.

I like her after we moved on from Lenny Henry.

And Cheerful Charlie's face when Jeremy had a brilliant idea of buying the pub.

Officially there are also lots of rules about how much water farmers are allowed to take from the ground for watering.

Admittedly it's not very well monitored and they all break these rules out of necessity. Don't say anything too loudly or this government will come along and start monitoring and charging farmers more for watering crops and feeding people.

Any cider lovers, I do really enjoy the Hawkstone cider. Can't speak on the beer, but I bought my Dad some and he enjoyed it.

It's pretty clear he is fortunate enough to have an "endless" pot of money but a lot (not all) of other farmers do diversify too. Our actual farm makes no money but we have rental properties, events, other shepherds pay to graze their sheep on our land. Some have liveries. It's not all doom and gloom. I can't get over how much I really enjoyed this show and hope there will be a second series.

The stropeyness was fine at first with Clarkson starting out but now it's like they all play a character. Clarkson must have some business acumen to have the ideas he does but it's all dumbed down for tv. Would be better if they move on to be more informative and intelligent content. It's just not evolved from the first series.

It's definitely gone downhill from series 1/2 and some of it borders on just being downright stupid but that's entertainment I guess. I try to take it with a pinch of salt because I do think in general the series is doing a really good thing for farming (coming from someone who works on a farm), especially the parts that are informative. I wonder how much of it is going to focus on the pub going forward.

Episode 4 is so sad. The vet seemed a bit laxy but I suppose what was filmed could have been chopped and changed slightly. Kaleb seemed a bit off this time around I get Jeremy must be a nightmare but his comment about he’d rather put the Christmas lights up with his friends seemed a bit uncalled for.

In harriets case she won't ever have a mortgage to pay if she lives on the family farm so her income will be mostly expendable.

The farm up the road from me has basically 4 houses as part of it and the extended family all live there. Combined with a couple of them working outside of farming and most of the costs being business expenses they must be doing ok.

Don't know why he even needs to advertise Hawkstone. It seems to be bloody everywhere now, I don't know whether their salesman specifically targetted Cambridgeshire but it's on tap in a couple of my local pubs, and has been for a couple of weeks, so not just one precious trial keg. If the same pattern of wide availability is repeated across the country, it can't possibly be a little husband and wife brewery making it for him, there has to be one of the big boys quietly doing the brewing and distribution for him.

Doesn't matter if it is good or bad, the number of people saying "oh they've got the Clarkson lager, I must try it", even if they only try one pint, his profit must be astronomical from it.

(Yes I did fall for it and had a pint, nothing special, went straight back to Peach Jubel for the rest of the night )
