Unpopular opinion maybe, but I think Mother's Day and Father's Day should be scrapped. They are only a way for greeting cards companies to earn money. Parents choose to have kids and shouldn't have to have presents as a reward. It is also bleeping triggering for people who have lost parents. I do not get on with my parents and always feel guilted into buying a card/small gift. I don't want to and I don't want to thank them for being parents because they don't deserve any thanks. It just makes me angry and upset.
My SIL hates my MIL and refuses to buy her a mother's day card as she says it would be a big lie.

Does anyone know how to leave a long term partner because you want kids and they don’t seem to at all? We discussed it and it appears he just doesn’t want kids full stop.

Oh gosh I’m so sorry. That’s rough. I don’t really know how to offer you any advice other than to say perhaps to try counselling if you’re both open to it. It’s such a shame that in a long term relationship this hasn’t come up before now and that you may break up. I hope you’re ok. Please stick around here, I’m sure some of our fellow Tattlers will be able to offer some sage advice.

I'm sorry for you, this is a very difficult situation. Counselling might be worth a go, if only to help you to draw the final line in the sand, process breaking up and how you plan to go about things if you live together or have shared assets like a car.

Try counselling first if you want to try and salvage things. If not, citizens advice is the best place. Have a look on the website for information. Sorry you're going through this, it is very hard.

A cousin of mine married a guy who has been adamant about not wanting children at all. He was clear on this from the beginning. She had always wanted children but made the huge compromise to not had them, and although they are still together decades later she has such a sad look as all her siblings have gone onto have kids. She obviously went into this knowing the deal and that is her call.
Just tell the truth that if the guy is unbending on having children you can’t make that compromise yourself. You won’t be happy without them, he won’t be happy with them. That is all you can do, I wish you well.

I am so sorry you are in this situation :(

I just thought I could share my personal experience with a similar situation. A few years back, I was in a relationship with someone that knew from the start I do not want children and he said he was fine with that. After a couple of years, the subject came up again and again as more friends were having kids. My mind was the same but he changed and decided he wanted kids after all. I could see that he was not fully content with his life and it was due to the 'not having kids' situation. In the end, I left. It was very hard but it was the best for both of us.

Unfortunately, I don't really have any advice to add to the ones already mentioned above.
Please look after yourself. Sending you all the love ❤

Reviving this thread to ask if there are any childfree by choice influencers or content creators that are worth a follow?

Literally everyone I enjoy following (and the ones I hate watch!!) are mums now and I’m just not interested.

I'd be interested in this too. It would be nice not to see the same old cliche scan pic, baby gro with baby bloggs due Sep 2021. Then the balloon arch at the baby shower...then the bump pics. Not that there's anything wrong with it. I just feel that there's no much baby reveals nowadays it would be nice to see something different lol.

I would also be interested in some new child free pages! I had to do a big Instagram clear out recently as all my newsfeed was Mother’s Day, kids on occasions like Easter, scan photos and births. Social media can be a very hard place for people that are not child free by choice 🙈

Out of interest is it an influencer that doesn't want children and discusses that or is it just someone to follow that may or may not have children but doesn't discuss them at all. I have 1 adult child but I have to be frank I have zero interest in other peoples children and never had, I was barely interested in mine till he was about 7 and could play sport, You could start the anti mumsnet, no mention of spawn allowed.

Spawnfree 😂

Child free. I am a product of 2 people with mental health issues reproducing and so are my siblings. I am now a ducked up adult because I now have my own problems that have developed. We grew up poor and in a deprived area.

I’ve never wanted children and I don’t think I’ll ever be having any. I’ve got too many issues I’d never want to pass on. Plus I’m selfish and like getting stoned 🥰

I’d personally most like to follow people my own age who are childfree by choice. I’m not against following parents of any ages, but it’s the fact that anyone around my age is now a mum, or actively talking about becoming one.

I am child free and now too old, I don’t regret my decision, I never changed my mind. With regards to oh it’s different when it’s your own, my response is you can’t send them back if it’s not

Emma Hill made a video about childfree, but she is more beige than The Anna Edit. Wouldn't recommend.

Everyone seems to be pregnant or with a newborn at the moment!

I'm confident that I don't want children. It can still be confusing though as although what I consider the negatives (for lack of a better word!) outweigh the positives for me, I know there are things I will miss out on. It isn't enough to make me change my mind but it's still there, not sure if this even makes sense.

I think the feelings along these lines have grown recently as there have been a few deaths in the family which have made me very nostalgic and thinking a lot about life and meaning.

Honestly I think this is only natural! When you’re unsure you can end up regretting it either way, but I know I’d much rather regret not having them whilst nursing a stinking hangover on a beach in Bali than bringing a child into the world and regretting it.

Your feelings make total sense and it seems you’re being sensible about it, weighing to pros and cons and continuing to evaluate what’s right for you. Regrets are inevitable but I think some are easier to live with than others 😊
