Every time I check this thread I hope there’s some good news from OP that it’s all been a misunderstanding and she’s paid it back
you aren't being dramatic at all, it is an abuse of trust!Agreed, she should be the one feeling uncomfortable., not me because she said she would pay me back and hasn't. I don't want it to ruin the friendship, but I'd have doubts about meeting up with her again, and I'd not offer to pay for anything now. I am not sure if that sounds dramatic but I think it is an abuse of trust almost.
Is it me that keeps checking this thread for an update? I'm strangely over-invested![]()
I can honestly say I am fuming for you..... clearly they have no shame...people like that really get under my skin... I am kind natured and I see that you are... it’s the blatant ignoring your messages that gets meThank you to everyone who has shown a concern, I'm genuinely touched. I just checked my bank balance now and the money hasn't been transferred, and I've not received a reply as of yet. I will of course keep you all updated if she decides to pay. I will also update you when I send her a follow up text or call.
same here.I've had experience of a friend taking advantage like this. It happened numerous times and in the end I decided to drop the friendship. I suppose if it's a one off and you value the friendship then maybe write it off as an expensive lesson learnt. In my case it happened too many times and the husband did it to us too so they had to go. Friendship for me is so much about respect. It's ok if you can't afford it or there is a reason why it's happens but her actions are a bit disrespectful to be honest.
I wonder do friendships recover if you have these awkward conversations? I'd be mortified if a friend pulled me up on something like that. Saying that, I'm the complete opposite and often the only one that tips etc when we are out. Or over pay my share of stuff. It's a bad habit I'm still trying to break.same here.
It happened 10/15 years ago when I was a student and having 10 quid more or less in my pocket made a huge difference.
There was always an excuse for not getting drinks, food, sigarettes (I was a smoker) or other things and I often paid for her.
I am not a confrontational type I decided to avoid her (without an explanation).
it was bad from my side and i should have told her I felt taken advantage of but never did.
I really dislike that sort of people.
I am very generous with my friends nowadays because I can and all of them are generous with me (within their means) so I am happy to be surrounded by lovely people![]()
Yes, I see your point. I will send her another message tomorrow. I didn't want to seem like I am harassing her, but she is the one in the wrong here.@HelloStereo I would honestly message her and lay it out there. That you are hurt by her not paying up and that although you don't want to throw away your friendship you are genuinely disappointed in her actions. I think the longer you leave it to chase up, the less likely she will pay up and may completely ghost you.
Yes, it is the fact that she ignored me and clearly ordered everything with no intention to reimburse me. If she said "I had a few unexpected payments come out, can I pay you back in a few days?" That would have been fine. But to completely ignore a request for repayment is hurtful.I can honestly say I am fuming for you..... clearly they have no shame...people like that really get under my skin... I am kind natured and I see that you are... it’s the blatant ignoring your messages that gets me
