Chasing friends for money

Oh the cheeky cow.
Do you know what, I don’t have a well paid job. My friends are all professionals - teacher, a lawyer and an accountant so you can imagine my budget is very different to theirs when they’re on double and triple my salary.
Anyway, if they invite me out and I can’t afford it, I will simply say no in the group. They all know why, but don’t embarrass me by asking but I can guarantee I’ll get a text off them all individually saying they’ll pay for me etc. Sometimes I take them up on the offer and sometimes I don’t. But I can guarantee come payday that money will be straight back in their bank accounts. It’s about respect. Luckily they like a pint rather than cocktails just like I do so it’s never loads and loads of money but even if it was it’s the same principle. The fact that she ordered way more than you as well!!
I just couldn’t take the piss out of a friend like that. It’s rude and ignorant.

I do feel like I am now your mother and this person is ripping off my child. Am so MAD.

It is fortunate for your 'friend' that I am not because I would be having serious words with her and you would not be allowed to play with her anymore! haha

Update: Thanks everyone for following along. I checked my account this evening and the money (actually, a little extra) has been transferred!

great news! I did have a friend who didn't work and would always want take away without offering to contribute.

I don't mind paying once in a while but I shouldn't be expected to pay everything each time.

Thank goodness shes paid.
In future OP just pay for yourself full stop, no lending big amounts to friends. Then you wont have all this worry again.

Thank you. I believed she wasn't going to repay me after a while, so I was pleasantly surprised!

Great news! It is such a shame that she dragged it out this long though. Another person here who’s been taken advantage of in the past by friends and family so this was stirring all sorts of feelings!

Do you think you’ll continue being friends now?

I know. She even paid in extra so I don't think it was because she was struggling for money. Maybe she was just really forgetful or wrapped up in something. I know the feelings you mean though, or feeling helpless as you can't make them pay you back, and as though they have disregarded your feelings.

I think so as she did pay eventually. I just won't pay for anything when we are out anymore!

Good choice! I really wonder why she took so long but it being there along with some extra bits is great!
