I don’t get the whole eyelash extensions thing (no offence to anyone) they look beautiful when they’re freshly applied but that bit before you go to get them re done when half of them have fallen off just gives me the heeby jeebys
I used to get them done (a natural look as opposed to CH's look) and they did look great at first but I really started to hate the cost, the tedium of getting them redone, wayward lashes ending up on your cheek, not being able to get them wet for 24-48 hours, not being able to wear other eye makeup, plus I'm also not convinced that putting glue in the eye area is a good thing. Would never get them done again

I use it infrequently e.g. once a week and I get the results of keeping the acne at bay without the side effects.

I like Jessica Defino in a number of ways (she raises my eyebrow in others) but I'm now very careful about putting anyone on a pedestal whether it's an influencer or someone claiming to disrupt the industry. I guess I'm going back to trusting my gut. Ever since I found Tattle, I deleted every single 'content creator' and influencer I followed and not only has my skin remained on my face, my bank balance is the healthiest it has been in years.

I do think it's important to consider 'is this really necessary' when it comes to skincare, but I trust my brain, gut and skin over all the Caroline's or Jessica's in the world.
Exactly, especially the last sentence. So important to know your own skin and not hand it over to a stranger, like the Facebook Freaks do. They give wholesale responsibility to someone else

Completely agree with what you say here. I read and watch what influencers say it ultimately an guided by my skin and what products I personally like or find work for me.

Anyone making a money from recommending products usually has some kind of interest in doing so. So I use them more as a product guide.

I think the main problem with the Freaks group is people join and basically incorporate everything into their routine from using basic face wash and moisturiser rather than adding in one product at a time. Ultimately you can't stop people doing this but perhaps they need to post a pinned announcement telling people not to do this.

I had them done once and liked them, had no issues but didn't feel the cost was worth it (you can get them cheaper now but at the time it was quite an outlay) so didn't bother to get them re-filled. About a year later, I got them again before getting married. Thank god they were fine for a couple of weeks, but then my eyelids swelled up and became itchy, red and irritated - it was when a few had started to come off so I think it was the effects of the glue starting to break down? Not something I would want to risk doing again.

When I stopped getting mine done I really enjoyed being able to wear eyeshadow and liquid eyeliner again.

I had mine done loads before lockdown I started with classics then had Russians never had them reapplied as realised the cost to have them done equally they only looked good for a little bit now I can wear eye shadow and liners and not worry about lashes falling off

Yeah there's definitely a lot more freedom to not having them IMO. People talk about how they look "done" all the time and how that's a good thing but I don't always want to look "done"! The downsides far outweigh the advantages

I've never had extensions but I am an avid user of eyelash growth serums. They are obviously not as dramatic as extensions but I have great eyelashes, if I say so myself, after years of use (plus lashings of Essence Lash Princess). Beginners should try Rapidlash, inexpensive and easily available!

Autumn kits - £300 🥴
Will be on sale next Friday. Yet to see what’s in them. Ouch.
Are the freaks going mad for them already? It's such a massive amount of money, it makes me a bit depressed, it really feels like taking the piss before what is going to be a hard Christmas (financially and otherwise) for so many people.

Yep, everyone going mad that it’s in a pink bag etc. It is sad. And it doesn’t feel that long since the summer kit was out. There will be a winter kit after Xmas too apaz.

It's also sad as you just know there'll be many freaks who'll get themselves into debt over this. And the 300 saving is a fallacy IMO. It only really works as a saving if you were planning to buy that exact configuration of products, which isn't really likely is it?

Nope. It's definitely spending rather than saving £300.

And for example, Labmuffin recently also did a skincare box with a nice little selection of a
soothing Korean style skincare routine. This cost £45 with free shipping worldwide from a scientist with a PHD.

I'm very lucky to be able to afford a great dermatologist. When she saw the amount of products I was using she was shocked. I trusted CH and Sali Hughes. They influenced me. My skin went from manageable to awful. Too many products. Too many active ingredients. Dermatologist had me stop using every single thing. I now use a basic moisturiser, sunscreen, and a prescription only cream. My skin NOW looks amazing. The money wasted by listening to and trusting CH and Sali.

£300! We’re about to crash out of the EU with no trade deal, people are losing their jobs left, right and centre, and there’s a bleeping pandemic. I am honestly disgusted by her now.

I can't begrudge her making hay while the sun shines, at least she is doing her own thing and taking initiative unlike a lot of influencers who just do paid adverts and affiliate links. Let's be honest if I had the fans who would make me a mint every three months by releasing a product I'd be over it like a rash.

I personally think she should release the kits every six months especially when they have all been pricey. Or she should mix it up and have a luxury and budget kit to make them more accessible. Make the budget kit say between £50 and £100 depending what's in it and the luxury one say £200 - £300. Two kits at £300 doesn't make sense to me as she is limiting the people who can afford to fork out that kind of money in one go.

I'd also make the bags an optional extra most people don't need any more cosmetic bags, if you are in to skincare and beauty they are regularly part of gifts with purchase etc.
