Would second Kate Somerville, wouldn’t have discovered her products without CH.
I actually like the Pixi Glow Tonic, find it works better than the hyped p50 (Into the Gloss raves about it too) for me. Also saw improvement with double cleansing and avoiding anything foaming- which CH advised in a personal consultation 5 years ago, although I see that she’ll push foaming stuff nowadays- money, eh?

It’s over-priced goo that you’re making a mint on. There you go, right first time!

Hi I'm new to this thread!
Discovered ch about 18months ago (maybe via This Morning?!) and had great results with introducing double cleansing and now I do swear by the body shop balm, pixi glow and daily SPF.
So I thank her for that... However... The freaks group and her bullish manor has started to wind me up! And now with these kits and the debt these poor 'freaks' are putting themselves into is mind boggling!

CHs advice has helped my skin enormously but I’ve become so disillusioned with her lately.

When she first started out, it was so refreshing to have a lady of a similar age to myself talking about beauty.
All the “youngsters” seemed bothered about was subscribers, PR samples and fame.
She was different back then.

Now I’m sad to say she appears to have gone down the same route.

I didn’t buy her book because I knew it was already on her blog.
I have in the past bought several of her kits. I just wish we were informed more in advance of the contents so that we could weigh up if it is suitable rather than rush in for fear of missing out.

Her kits ARE expensive and it saddens me that women in their early 20s and younger are desperately trying to find a way to pay for them.
She always said “don’t credit card skincare” - what happened to that mantra?
I wouldn’t have been able to afford them in my 20s, but then my skin probably didn’t need them then.

I hate the term “freak” and have never called Caroline “my Queen“ - I’m not 10 years old!

I got influenced to buy the first CH box from Cult Beauty way back when and I loved a couple of products in it - the Zelens acid pads (too expensive to re-purchase on a regular basis) and a Tata Harper serum (again too expensive to continue with) but I could not get on with the May Lindstrom blue cocoon balm at all and that was when I realized that she [CH] had been raving about it for months and months, it was one of the best new products out there and yet when I got my hands on it I was like, what am I supposed to do with this? It wasn't a cleanser, it wasn't a moisturizer, it wasn't a serum, I just couldn't figure out what all the hype was about and then the penny dropped that she must have been in partnership with her to promote it even though it was useless, there was no way she could love this product that much. She would hype up anything if paid enough. Now I assume every single thing she likes and puts out there on her blog or insta is paid for. But she did change my skincare routine for the better and I've got some products that I tried because of her and I've stuck with them for a while.

The hype over the kit is out of control. Imagine how the freaks will react when their queen launches her own skincare brand? Pretty sure that's where all this is leading, she's learning how to sell directly to customers, figuring out the logistics of how to warehouse and ship, how to create and meet demand. Do that a few times wit other people's products, get the process perfected and the boom....CH skin care coming your way and she's got a captive audience ready to jump on it.

Blue Cocoon was an eye-opener for me, too. She recommended it especially for sensitive skin - but it's full of essential oils, so probably not your best choice when dealing with breakouts or even rosacea.
I tried to love it cause it was so expensive but I gave it away in the end.

I agree! What was the hype with Blue Coccon? I ended up using it on my neck because it was too much for my face.
Haven’t rated any Tata Harper either. I do love Zelens oils though.

On her recommendation I got:

Pixi Glow Tonic. I reacted terribly to this
Skin Owl eye cream. Beyond useless and overpriced
Hydraluron. Or as she nauseatingly calls it, Hironsluron. A sticky mess
Kate Somerville Goat Milk moisturiser. Nothing life changing, especially not for the price
Liquid Gold. I do like this and have used on/ off for years. Probably won't repurchase it as I use P50 nowadays (on the recommendation of a derm, not Caroline)
Pestle and Mortar superstar retinol oil. Don't know if it did anything
Clarins Facial oil. Stinks to high heaven and I don't touch facial oils nowadays

That's all I can think of for now

Oh, I'd forgotten about the hydraluron. What a load of rubbish, just a sticky mess all over the face which dried out my skin. Hated it!

I still don’t know what clearpay is - is it just an alternative to PayPal?
It lets you spread payments over 3 months but you have to pay the first payment when you order.

Paying in installments is fine if you have have money to keep up with the installments. I've bought my Shark on QVC with 4 easy pays because it's interest free and I knew I could afford the monthly payment (I could have paid in full but why would I when I have the option). Same with credit cards, I have ans use one but always pay mine off each month.

It becomes an issue when people can't actually afford what they are buying and make late payments and incur interest.

The issue with the kits is that she will be releasing one every three months but the clear pay has a four month option. People with fomo might end up overcommitting on clear pay and get into a hole. I can see these companies having the same issue as payday loans etc down the line.

I think CH ditched PayPal as people accidently ordered 2 or 3 kits when her site went down last time she did an release and rather than wait for her to refund people opened a dispute.

I do think that if you use or want to try most of the products in the kit they are very good value for money. I wouldn't get into financial difficulties over it tho.
Which Shark? I've got my eye on the handheld one but don't know how good it is. My main vac is the gtech and I got the handheld free but it's a bit bulky and awkward to use.

I used pixie glow tonic too but it did nothing for my skin. I’ve been using an Elemis toner over lockdown and my skin is so much better and clearer for it. TBF CH also introduced me to First Aid Beauty and I do think that’s a really good brand. I’m 33 and would like to use products that help with first signs of ageing but they are all too rich!

Is it like being in a car group and saying walk? Or is it like a warning to drink moderately by an alcohol manufacturer? 🧐

Just had this email from her. My first thought was how she’s backing the beauty workers to return to work who have lost income but then flogging her kits for those prices? The 2 might not overlap but I don’t know, seems hypocritical in a way 🤷‍♀️

It's the cordless duo clean (the new version is one with anti-hero wrap technology). Really like it. Easy to use and store and I like it has batteries so I can change them out when doing a deep clean. I've got an old cordless Dyson but the battery life was never enough to clean the whole house hence going for the Shark.
