Hitting him was a choice. My husband has pushed my buttons on more than one occasion in our 32 year marriage but I've never ever wanted to physically hurt him. The day that I do, I'll know it's time to walk.

I'm actually shocked by the standard at which people are holding a grieving mother. Jesus. Made a fool of herself? 🤦🏻‍♀️

I’ve just read through this thread and astounded by the defending of Caroline hitting Lewis including if he wasn’t asleep it wouldn’t be bad bad! What difference does that make.
It really reminds me of a male friend who suffered domestic abuse and when it came out a lot of comments were around
‘He must have done something women don’t just hit men for no reason’
‘We all do things in the heat of the moment’
I’m not saying Lewis was any saint by the sounds of it he sounds like an **** but he didn’t deserve the lamp being thrown at his head. Imagine if it was the other way round and he found messages on her phone and threw the lamp at her head no one would be defending or justifying his behaviour. Rightly so but just because she was a women it shouldn’t be any different
I do feel sorry for Caroline I think she had a lot of demons and picked the wrong blokes however in this situation she had done wrong and I think the cps were correct. It sounded like a very toxic relationship how do we know this is the first time she had been abusive towards him? There is that saying in domestic abuse cases if they’ve hit you once they’ll do it again no matter how sorry they are. Unfortunately I doubt it was this different in this case

Mod edit: Locking thread because it keeps being bumped about her ex who has his own thread

A lot has been written about CF since her passing. Lots of it has been sensitively handled but reading between the lines it’s clear what sort of person she was and what sort of life she led.

Her mum blaming her friends, the CPS, the police and anyone else is misguided at best. Her image has been largely protected by her friends when they could have quite easily have sold stories on her to put forward their version of the days weeks leading to her taking her life.
And if she publicly denigrates them, her mum may find Caroline’s friends have less loyalty than they’ve shown to date. She’s playing a very dangerous game.

I wish her mum had someone who cared about her telling her to back off and to get some therapy

Such a distasteful documentary. I hope Caroline's victims are being well supported, I can't help thinking this will be really hard on them.

Sorry now, I know she has lost her daughter but that woman is some piece of work! No thoughts for Lou or her poor father and what they saw. A sight that I'm sure will never leave their mind.

She's doing nothing for Caroline’s memory.

I trained as a Samaritan and left as I was on pins everytime I did a shift in case it was ‘the one’. For anyone who doesn’t know - Samaritans do not call the police if someone is on the line who has actively taken measures to end their life. They sit with them until the call comes to an end and they no longer respond, whatever way that may be.

Having watched it, I am surprised they made the decision to charge. She had no previous convictions, admitted her guilt and he needed no medical treatment and dropped the charges. I’m not saying what she did wasn’t wrong at all, but I feel a caution could have sufficed in this instance. Having said that, I think she was always a big suicide risk with her mental health problems and it was an ill advised career to go into with such issues.

This documentary makes me uneasy. I feel for her mother. She’s really hurting & it’s understandable to lash it but I don’t think this is the way. Let Caroline rest, the girl was tortured since she was young with so many mental issues. Just let her rest. Since she passed every z lister has used her name as a get out of trouble card implying they would take their own life for being called out. It’s the biggest most awful thing, it genuinely turns my stomach. Let the girl rest.

I was thinking about Caroline today and in the current climate, her trial would have been completely swept under the carpet & no one would’ve really been paying attention to it anyway. Which makes it all the more sad 😢

His tribute seems more authentic, imo, and I’m glad he isn’t just doing a wishy washy tribute to her that makes out she was some angel, just because she died. He’s basically saying - yeah they loved each other once, things didn’t go as they planned, they both acted badly but he never wished this upon her and is finding it hard to deal with, now she’s gone.
personally, I don’t see anything wrong with that.

Why wasn’t she involved in watching her? I can’t believe she didn’t spend Christmas with her when it was clear Caroline was completely spiralling during that period. Even most of the texts and voice notes are messages to her friends. Where was her mother? It’s all well and good coming out now doing a documentary and going on a complete blame rampage, but where was she when Caroline was on a cliff edge?

From watching the documentary it seemed like Caroline had suffered with her mental health from her teen years and it had been very much linked to her relationships with men. I think whether or not Caroline had become famous, she'd have gone down that path anyway. Her mum couldn't stop her pressing the self destruction button back when she was 15/16. You certainly can't lay the blame on friends who were doing their best.
Isn't it quite common that when someone has made the decision to take their own life they'll appear to have rallied and calmed down? I suspect that was the case here.

Seems kind of disrespectful to pose for pictures at a wake 😐 or is this the thing now?
It’s like they needed to prove they were in the special people club, invited to the private funeral. The way that blonde one with a face full of make-up is posing up a storm is unreal. There is no such thing as privacy these days.

It’s one of those stories where if you were to switch the genders of the victim and the attacker, there wouldn’t be many people rushing to make excuses or whitewash questionable behaviour and inappropriate decisions. No chance.

although and awful and tragic situation, this was no ones fault. Caroline was the victim of her own choices and actions. She clearly wasn’t well, they clearly had an unhealthy relationship. To throw a phone full pelt at your boyfriends head in a rage which causes him to bleed profusely as was stated in the police report, is assault plain and simple.

The CPS couldn’t just let her off because she was famous, what would the public have thought if they had??? They cannot make allowances for people in the public eye.

She tried to kill her self several times, but text her friends beforehand to let them know?? If that’s not Manipulation I don’t know what is. But what could they do? She refused to go to hospital, she refused to even admit to the paramedics that she was suicidal. Therefore there was nothing they could do for her. You cannot take someone to hospital against there will unless they have been sectioned, which maybe she should have been.

She was furious with her friends for calling 999 and told them to leave her. She put them in the most horrible situation.

Could they have done more, possibly, but they would have been going against her will. I think her parents could have intervened personally, I mean if it was my daughter I would have done but it’s easy to look in hindsight I guess. Maybe that’s why her mum is trying to place the blame on other people. It’s a very sad situation.

As a woman who’s husband killed himself I Think he was completely selfish and took a easy way out, he left me with a just turned 3 year old who was only learning about the outside world and left him angry for years, so yes he was very very selfish
I completely disagree. To keep fighting when all you want to do is escape, can feel impossible. Its heartbreaking for those left behind, but its heartbreaking feeling like that also.
