I really don’t understand how people saying she wanted to kill herself as a narcissistic thing? Surely in some cases but personally I don’t see it in this one. And she did kill herself so it’s not as though she was just saying it for attention.
But...she had form. When Andrew Brady called an ambulance she went to the press and told them he was a 'time waster' and that he was 'vindictive'. She really dug the knife in and she didn't need to. She could just have released a statement saying it was all a mistake but instead she demonised HIM. At the same time, her 'friends' who supplied the quotes to the media confirmed she DID imply she was going to commit suicide but she 'never would'. So then how could it be him being nasty?
To me that all seems very manipulative. Convince a loved one on the phone you are going to do it, convince ambulance crew you're not when they get there and then - convince the press and the public your boyfriend was responsible for it all as he's a nasty piece of work.
It seems on the night of the assault she used suicide again as a threat and told police she would kill herself. The prosecution said;
"It is clear the defendant is manipulative towards him.
"She calls him an a**hole and vile and says he has ruined her life when she has ruined her own life by committing the assault."
She then had to be restrained in police custody after throwing furniture and told police she would kill herself. To me that threat seems like a punishment to him who she said was 'vile'- and a threat to the police to leave her alone rather than her hating herself. I'm not saying she didn't hate herself...but it does seem like a pattern of using suicide threats alongside violent behaviour. She is clearly blaming her boyfriend for her choices and actions which is manipulative.
Where would the prosecution get their info from on her being manipulative? Most likely the events of that night and police statements from Burton.
She came over as being rather unpleasant and I got the impression that she would revell in others' misfortune, a school bully type of woman. As with a lot of bullies when the tables were turned she lost it completely. She said a few years ago after winning Strictly that she became very depressed and that her friends found her very draining, yes people can be draining and she sounds pretty self obsessed she really should have seen a professional counsellor/therapist its not as if she couldn't afford it. I am sorry she felt so wretched that she hung herself but I refuse to accept that was a martyr.
I think what she was really afraid of was the police footage. Not because it showed her with blood all over her as she said - but because it probably showed her true behaviour for which there would have been no excuse.
Abusive behaviour is all about control and people can't stand to let other people control the truth about them.
