And Piers Morgan too. Have they shown any support towards Hannah recently or have they mysteriously stayed quiet?I wonder what Michael Ball thinks, he was all over the family.

It was ruddy awful, so tacky. Can't imagine anyone "choosing" to listen to it.I think that charideeee song he did will haunt his dreams. I felt like an evil witch when that came out, cackling because of the cringe of it.
There are other charities for older people that Hannah could have jointly worked with but she wanted one all of her own for selfish reasons - financial gain and personal recognition. She said the Captain Tom Day would have been the first one and on a par with Children in Need and Comic Relief so she's planning for it to be an annual event. So ridiculous and unnecessary. What was the need for a Captain T day anyway? We hardly need a day to commemorate someone walking round their garden!
With the original date in June if feels like a blatant attempt to shoehorn themselves into the Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
Bet we’d have seen HI-M doing her Wimbledon wave on the palace balcony obscuring HMTQ from view![]()
Exactly this. It's not the fact she was wanting a salary for her work (and by God, I've never seen anyone work as hard to shoehorn themselves into absolutely everything). It's the fact she wanted/expected such a huge one for a brand new and relatively mid-tier charity that was always going to struggle once public interest inevitably started to wane. She immediately began siphoning off the cash to their own pockets instead of trying to make it a sustainable venture. If she's been a bit more canny and initially spent more on charity and less to management costs - and made a point of not being seen to try and profit personally from it herself - she might have gotten the sceptics onside. Then in a year or two, she might have gotten away with a personal salary and pre-dating companies of hers being paid by the Foundation.
The walk money went to the NHS charities. I think the foundation was after...and then donated 40k to a couple of charities and then more to "consultants" than was donated lolSo did the money Tom raised by doing the walk go to the charities or was the 'foundation' set up whilst he was doing it? I'm just wondering if there was like two separate pots of money. One for the original 'event' and then one for all the media stuff after.
First I knew of the song was then the played it at his funeral, I thought it was a joke and couldn't stop laughingIt was ruddy awful, so tacky. Can't imagine anyone "choosing" to listen to it.
I must admit I’ve never heard their version of the song, not even a snippet. Never watched his funeral. No idea how I got away without hearing it but seems like I dodged a bullet!First I knew of the song was then the played it at his funeral, I thought it was a joke and couldn't stop laughing![]()
A bloody Michael Buble song was recorded specially for the funeral, a cover of "Smile". I can't stand Buble, he gives me the creeps and I hate his voice and songs.I must admit I’ve never heard their version of the song, not even a snippet. Never watched his funeral. Cynical cow that I am, I was uneasy from the start about the walk and media manipulation so fortunately never heard the Ball/Tom song.A bloody Michael Buble song was recorded specially for the funeral, a cover of "Smile". I can't stand Buble, he gives me the creeps and I hate his voice and songs.
I wince whenever I hear his crimbo songs in shops, he's unavoidable at that time of year.Cynical cow that I am, I was uneasy from the start about the walk and media manipulation so fortunately never heard the Ball/Tom song.
Can't stand Buble and his cheesy made for Magic FM songs.
I have to confess I have liked a couple of his Christmas covers, but soon as he spouts his own original stuff, he's like feckin combination of westlife, Boyzone and Thorntons chocolates all mixed togetherI wince whenever I hear his crimbo songs in shops, he's unavoidable at that time of year.
I went and sought it out on YouTube, it was everything I hoped it would be and moreI must admit I’ve never heard their version of the song, not even a snippet. Never watched his funeral. No idea how I got away without hearing it but seems like I dodged a bullet!
Has been put on hold for the time being by Esther Rantzen. I did read that hannah contacted Esther to suggest the idea in the first place, a sort of Children In Need for older peopleI wonder if that Captain Tom Day scheduled for June will still take place?
Makes me sound like Celine Dion in comparissonThat song. I’m still in recovery.
Which isn't strictly the worst idea. We have an aging population and a lot of issues faced by older adults simply aren't given enough thought, funding or fixes. But there are much more established charities who could helm such a cause because finding these solutions is their whole focus (unlike the CTF who literally only seem to exist to shift flowers and gin).Has been put on hold for the time being by Esther Rantzen.
