😂 as do you.
For the record not calling you a failure and I'm sure your children are wonderful.
Wow. They are. But I reckon you need a job or something. You're far too invested in trying to tell Strangers how things should be done.
Now I dont know about you but I have a life. And a job to go to. Thank goodness these forums etc were not in existance when mine were babies. I actually had to go out and socialise with real people and interact with my family unlike so many online these days lol.
And for the record, there is no response needed nor expected or indeed wanted to this statement. Its a general observation not requiring an answer from you. 😉😀

There you are making assumptions again.
Pot.kettle.black.
Good day to you!

Depending on position and age of child breastfeeding generally leaves me with one free hand to use my phone, which is obviously the main reason I choose to continue 😆

I wouldn’t call kellymom an extensive scientific resource. It’s just the website everyone who loves breastfeeding quotes, and full of papers said website owners have picked out. Hardly robust, and I’m a huge bf fan
Kelly mom links to the sources of the scientific research - it’s all in one place instead of me posting 1000s of links to research you can find them on one platform. It’s not research Kelly mom has done.

I’m so surprised that the support for breastfeeding has gone down so much, when I had my son nearly 21yrs ago, it was all the health professionals talked about, no one mentioned formula feeding at all

My late husband was given baby rice at 6 weeks (on advice from doctors), maybe I can use it as an excuse for him killing himself?? He didn’t have bad intestines though, neither do I despite being born in the 70s but my mums always used fresh food and not processed foods, processed foods are more likely to give you problems later in life

You’re right, I bottle fed due to a tumour. Does that make me a bad Mum, hell no! I never claimed it wasn’t science. It’s 100% a choice, so why shame a parent for a choice they make? I’m defensive because people like you, go around shaming other parents. I met many Mums like you at baby clubs, mum and toddler groups and antenatal classes. I felt sorry for them because there whole identity was ‘I’m a breast feeding warrior’🤦🏻‍♀️ I bet your child is no healthier than a bottle fed child.
I’ve bottle fed and breast fed but I know which is best. You clearly don’t know anything about the science.

Agree I had a shocking experience with a midwife on my first night on the maternity ward. Baby wouldn’t stop crying, I had been trying for hours to get her to latch with barely any luck. So eventually I was brave enough to press the button for help, after all that’s what it’s there for. Someone came, I explained in almost tears that I couldn’t get her to latch or stop crying bearing in mind I was a new young mum scared shitless. Her response, and I appreciate she may well have been rushed off her feet and not properly trained in breastfeeding, was to say “well you’d better get her latched otherwise we will have to give her a bottle” and then she walked off and left me! Hardly in keeping with the ‘breast is best’ mantra. It made me feel like I was doing something wrong to even consider asking for help and that I should have just formula fed from the start.

I didnt bother asking for help after that instead I went to YouTube to watch latch videos and we got it down eventually, after lots of crying and one rude mum on my ward basically telling me to shove a dummy in and be done with it. It really upset me, it’s actually made me a bit teary even thinking about that memory, don’t think I ever felt as alone and scared as I did on that ward that night.
That’s horrendous. My son cried every second of every day until he was 18mo except when he had a boob in his mouth. But I remember him howling on the ward and feeling like everyone was judging me for being a shit mum. That midwife sounds awful, I wonder how many mums have been turned off bf by her attitude alone?

Imagine being so discontent in yourself that you feel the need to argue that people who provide links to lists of scientific research are somehow wrong because they haven’t done the research themselves 🤨

If breastfeeding has no benefits why is recommended by government health organisations worldwide? Honestly, some people’s desire to be so against breastfeeding that they lose sight of their common sense absolutely astounds me.
I don’t even know where to start with this 😂 all this alleged scientific knowledge yet you seem unable to comprehend text. Can you quote where I’ve suggested breastfeeding has no benefits? Or are you just being a drama llama (actually don’t answer that- you’ve answered it yourself with the “discontent” argument)

@Notgonnalie my friends are wonderful, as, (as I previously stated), the support given by breastfeeding counsellors. 2 of them are also scientists and will happily tell you there is no science involved 😁

Out of personal interest, not for those who can’t breastfeed or have tried to and it didn’t work out, what would be the reasons that made your decision to formula feed before you baby has been born?

I find people that say it’s impossible not to produce enough milk as it’s supply and demand. I had a very traumatic birth. When my son was born first thing midwives did was fed him formula from a cup. He has to have a blood test done before feeding to check if his kidneys and liver were affected from the meds they put me on during birth. That expanded his tiny stomach. I then tried to breastfeed him but as you know your milk doesn’t come in for a few days. So I tried and tried breastfeeding and he was ina feeding frenzy. I was pumping and feeding and I was producing loads but he just wanted more and more. But it just want enough even when my milk came in. It was soul destroying as I really wanted to breastfeed. I struggled to bond with him but that was a struggle as well. I give up BF for my own mental health even though in the end I did have post natal depression and didn’t bond with him until he was 1. I constantly carry the guilt that I didn’t do enough to breastfeed even though I know I probably would have ended up in hospital if I would have carried on with it. When I hear people saying thing you say it pisses me off to no end. Formula feeding is not the picture perfect but for some mums it’s the only option and nobody should be made to feel bad about it
I wish I’d been able to breastfeed and made myself feel terrible over it. But fed is best. Doesn’t matter how. My son was born at 35 weeks so was unable to latch. I struggled for 2 weeks, as well as having a toddler but had to give up as I was constantly crying trying to get him to feed

And anyone who says “I support breastfeeding BUT…” doesn’t really support breastfeeding at all.
You can say that about anything.
You can also understand other people's view on something, while still doing your thing.
I never said women should not breasfeed. No one said that. You're ignoring 90% of what is being said.

Also, it is not a matter of "supporting it". Breast feeding is not an idea or a project. It just happens, and you have to accept it.
We're talking about it being ok for someone to not being comfortable with seeing that. It does not mean that that person will say or do something about it.

I also understand that there are subjects where not everyone is entitled to have an opinion. But here, although, once again, I do not have a problem seeing it. But I do understand that some people still feel that way – it's part of the journey towards a world where everyone will just see it as something completely normal to run into.

If she is bottle feeding and in any way shape or form and promotes formula milk, she's risking having her Instagram account shut down by Instagram, it is against their policy to break the law on your account.
Genuine question why would promoting formula be against the law? Nothing to do with the Grinch (as much as I want her account gone) just curious in general.

You poor thing. The post natal ward is horrendous enough without that crap.
My last baby was briefly under the care of NICU (only for a minor infection, full
Term and healthy) and their feeding advice, and care of her, was fantastic. Light years away from post natal. They had a breastfeeding expert visit each patient. I know they deal with complex feeding situations but there was nothing unusual with me and I still got a detailed visit and multiple observations whilst I fed. The difference was like night and day

I know about the process to be a counsellor. Maybe the level of scientific knowledge you think it needs depends on your starting point. I don’t know anyone who thought it took a good understanding, and I’m good friends with 3 counsellors. It’s only Breast feeding for god sake, you’re not becoming a virologist!
I hope you’re not as hostile towards your friends.

I never said anything about becoming a virologist did I? I said the science knowledge required was specifically related to breastfeeding and used *good* as in greater than low level as a response to what you said.

I’m really not sure where you’re going with this at this point. If you’re looking an argument you won’t get one from me.

She’s doesn’t have to promote formula to make but there’s plenty of opportunities with both breast and bottle feeding to promote various items and make money. It’s been discuss in previous threads. When I said that she labels it properly I mean that she adds ad or gifted etc.🙄

Where have I said that I disagree with the science? I am disagreeing with your Mum shaming. The science is there which clearly states that breast feeding is the best way to feed a baby. However, if someone can’t/doesn’t want to breastfeed then surely feeding them is the best option? Or would you prefer that the mother starves the baby? I would also like a link to the scientific paper which states that all breast fed babies are healthier with no health issues compared to bottle fed babies. I’ll wait.......
