[Harlot O'Scara]

Loved Rodham. In fact Curtis Sittenfeld is one of my fave authors. I can highly recommend her short stories collections and American Wife.

I loved Eligible (read it in a day!), enjoyed Romantic Comedy, and I've got a couple of her others on my wish list.

I'm wary of Rodham because I don't like Hilary Clinton at all which I think would unfairly prejudice my reading of it if that makes sense?

She does a bit of a 'sliding doors' take on Hillary. I'm not overly keen on HC, but it's very well done.

I am enjoying reading The Other Bennett Sister. I got it for 99p when the show was on.

I am suprised by how different the book is to the show. It is still broadly the same story ( with a few changes) but i expected it to be written in first person and to have a more comedic frothy tone to it. It has funny bits, but it is not written like a rom com.

I've recently finished the author's Rules Of The Heart and that wasn't what I was expecting either..........and turns out to be a true story.

Gone Girl. And you don't often see The Dry by Jane Harper get a mention. It's such a great book. I've read a few of her other books, which I'd also recommend.

Is The Goldfinch a thriller ??

The girl with the dragon tattoo is a yearly re-read so completely agree on the top 5 thriller. I hated I Am Pilgrim though (I know it's a fav on here, please don't kick me out ). Really liked You (but the sequel was not good) and Sharp Objects.

That confused me! I must confess I DNF'd it. I forget why. But if there was a thriller twist, I did not reach it

I've only read six of those, and three of them were the Tana French ones (although I thought The Wych Elm was pretty poor tbh)

I've got God of the Woods on Unlimited and I bought You for 99p ages ago so they'll get read eventually.

it could be described as vaguely turning into one in the amsterdam chapters but it would NEVER be the genre i would choose for it!

As a thriller lover, I'm not mad at this list at all. I'll even accept The Silent Patient being on it. I'm just ecstatic there's no Freida McFadden

I really enjoyed The God of the Woods. And I haven’t read any of the included Tana French ones here but I do enjoy the Cal Hooper series by her.

One of my long term reading projects is the British Library Crime Classics series. Many of the books are good solid enjoyable reads, some are really good. And then there are a few absolute stinkers.

This is the worst one I've read yet. Even worse because it's about twice as long as most books in this series. It spends about 350 pages meandering through nothing, just endless prose to nowhere. If you make it to the last 150ish pages, it does get a bit more interesting at trial, and it is loosely based on a true story. But duck it's so unsatisfying as a read. It's just painful.
