Now: It could have been her - Lisa Jewell (can’t put it down!)
I didn't realise she had a new book out until I saw this. Bought it on Kindle last night, stayed up way too late reading and my stupid job has stopped me reading today. About 50% of the way through and needed to know if my theories are correct

Finished Japanese Gothic- erm not sure what that was 🤣.

felt like a fever dream where you’re hallucinating and you have no idea what is going on.

Has anyone else read it?
Oh no, I bloody loved Bat Eater and the blurb already had me worried I wouldn't like this.

I'm learning to never read an author's next book after their debut or breakout - it's always either rushed to capitalise on hype, or whatever they'd previously written that publishers didn't want.

I haven’t read bat Eater but you might still enjoy this?

its not my usual genre so could have just been me and everything going over my head? I liked the premise of the story and I can see what the writer was going for but it was just all over the place for me and i’m a bit confused by the end ( but I kind of just skimmed it by that point)

Agree - I’m nervous for the follow ups to Lessons in Chemistry and Trespasses that are coming out later in the year.

Also reminds me.. has anyone read People in Love?

Oh the new Louise Kennedy is a worthy successor to Trespasses! I read an ARC and gave it four stars to Trespasses’ five.

Thanks for the reassurance - consider me relived!!
Now I think about it there’s decent gaps between both releases - hopefully that’s a good sign.

What did you think?

I liked it overall but felt the premise was a bit too similar to her debut.
I didn’t love it! I loved the first one which is why I was excited but this just felt a bit flat, I thought it was okay, I didn’t really “get it” and thought it was a me problem rather than a book issue

I also loved the first one but felt very much the same. I was really looking forward to it so thought it was possibly me putting too much pressure on it but thinking about it after I felt the premise was too similar to TatN but I wasn’t nearly as invested in any of the characters and didn’t really feel any tension.

Finished it last night. It didn't quite go how I thought it would but I was 85% right. Felt similar to Then She Was Gone in some ways which is probably the Lisa Jewell book I have found most compulsive and the saddest

Finished Moderation by Elaine Castillo today, I really enjoyed it even though the ending did feel very rushed! Anyone else read it?

Now about to start Hello Beautiful 🩷

I'm currently reading this book and I can't remember why!
It's not a book I would normally read, so I thought Tattle must have recommended it, but obviously not when I did a search.
So someone has obviously told me to read it, and it's taken a while to come in to the library for me.🤔
Anyway it's the kind of book I can imagine Tattlers liking, so the author is probably popular.
As I'm trying to widen what I read, it's definitely a book that has grown on me, the more I am reading it.
So I suppose I'm recommending it.😁
