Lonesome Dove and Middlemarch at the same time?! You’re clearly not afraid of a challenge! 😂
I may be mad! 😂 But they're such different books so it sort of works? Lonesome Dove has been a good heatwave read too. I have been enjoying a chapter at a time while sat in the sun.
I do want the satisfaction of finishing a book at some point and that seems far off right now haha.

The algorithm has definitely worked out that I like books.
As well as throwing up book suggestions it's now given me this:

I'm listening to Demon Copperhead too, how far in are you? I'm only at 9%, got a long way to go yet!
I've about an hour left. I am struggling with it massively, not sure if its the story or the narrator. His accent kinda grates on me.

Last: The quiet tenant - Clemence Michallon
Now: It could have been her - Lisa Jewell (can’t put it down!)
Next: Our Perfect Storm - Carley Fortune.
I loved The Quiet Tenent. Such an underrated book.

Yes, I know what you mean about his accent. I sometimes feel like it's an AI voice.

If someone is hanging by their last thread due to their being two weeks left of term with two asd kids and it being hotter than hell and they just happened to be going to the town where their fave book shop is - how many book purchases would be allowable do you think?

Asking for a friend ;)

What did you think of Mariana?

I love Monica Dickens, she has a really dry sense of humour.

My favourites are Mariana, No More Meadows, One Pair of Feet and Joy and Josephine.

I absolutely loved it, and I'm on the search for more by her, so this is a perfect list! I loved Charbury and "for the love of mud", and all of Mary's quirky family members.

Its the old fashionedness of them, think they were probably written 1940-50ish, just set in a period when life was so much calmer and simpler. They are all so different as well. One Pair of Feet is a kind of memoir of her time as a nursing student and it just made me laugh so much!

I asked my Mum to pick my next read and she chose The Belting Inheritance by Julian Symons.

Finished Japanese Gothic- erm not sure what that was 🤣.

felt like a fever dream where you’re hallucinating and you have no idea what is going on.

Has anyone else read it?
