Have read the synopsis of the film and it sounds tit, really misses the poignant aspects of the story and the warped relationships in favour of sexual degeneracy. Just write your own story, don't tar someone else's work with your crappy stick.
I wasn't aware this was an unpopular opinion until recently but I (usually) love film editions of books
The fact that this film seems to be getting universal hate is almost making me like the book.
Yes. I get smug vibes from Fennell but also Margot. I don't get the appeal.Have read the synopsis of the film and it sounds tit, really misses the poignant aspects of the story and the warped relationships in favour of sexual degeneracy. This is waiting for me to pick up at the library, can’t wait.A big thanks to those on these threads who mentioned The Correspondent. I just devoured it
this afternoon - what a book. A lot of emotions explored and well written![]()
I’m #3 on the reserve list at mine and I’m so impatient !This is waiting for me to pick up at the library, can’t wait.
beautiful book! i’m still thinking about it - i think i said here that a main plot point is one of my triggers but i’m glad i listened to the lovely people here and pushed through as even THAT was handled with so much care even if it did mean that i will never read it again. it was so wonderfully put together.A big thanks to those on these threads who mentioned The Correspondent. I just devoured it

I’m going to see it tomorrow.. will report back!same! has anyone here seen it yet? because i see all this outrage but i want to hear from someone who’s watched it🫣
tbh wuthering heights is a beautifully unhinged book so i’m not entirely horrified by someone going full ham on an adaptation. emerald fennell’s films are just usually a bit too pleased with themselves though. my issue with all wuthering heights adaptations is that they forgo the last half of the book, which is the most interesting part, AND leave out the tree headbutting, which is my favourite part 🥲
Started this yesterday! Only a few pages in thoughA big thanks to those on these threads who mentioned The Correspondent. I just devoured it

please do!!! i’m seeing stuff online and i am MAD on behalf of isabella alreadyI’m going to see it tomorrow.. will report back!
My book club is one where an honest negative review would be fine. Which is great. I think it'd be a bit boring if everyone is expected to only say nice things about a book! Are any of you in bookclubs? How honest are you if the book isn’t good. Maybe I’m too honest and should let things go and say ‘yeah, nice, good’ Got the feeling in my last meeting that my negative reviews aren’t appreciated![]()
It's free on Project GutenbergWuthering heights appears to be 14p on kindle today if anyone’s interested.
Sex sells, more than ever it would seem. The 50 Shades stuff is objectively awful in terms of writing and the films awful with writing and acting but the creator has made silly money out of them.Emerald Fennel I feel is of the opinion that the more bizarre, sexual and outrageous her adaptation, more publicity it will create. It works for her. We are all talking about it like Saltburn.
50 Shades was a Twilight fanfic originally: at the height of Twilight-mania they rejacketed Wuthering Heights with a "Bella & Edward's favourite book!" sticker. There's some sort of lesson in all this, I feel. Maybe it's "write crappy characters who are objectively awful people = ££££"Sex sells, more than ever it would seem. Maybe I will try to write the next big steamy novel!![]()
