Great suggestions off to look at these. Kindle unlimited has lots of knitting books on it. It normally has a 3 month free trial and if you get the app on iPad then you can see them fully.

Just finished The Correspondent by Virginia Evans. Thanks to this thread (I think it was @StephenTJackson who recommended it). It’s such a beautiful read and the first 5I’ve read in a long time. I got lucky through Libby as there’s 12 waiting but I only had 5 days borrow time. I devoured it and read in a day.
I loved this book too! Knew it would get a good reception on this thread - I felt it had a similar quality to Remarkably Bright Creatures.Another thumbs up for Writers and Lovers! I did have to adjust my expectations of it though once I got into it. All of the blurb I saw described it as funny and one said it had “Richard Curtis film vibes” which I really didn’t get. Maybe some wry humour and a few witty parts but I wouldn’t describe it as a funny book. Quite the opposite in places actually.
I bought this for someone who does embroidery and it seems to be a hit. I don’t sew but was very impressed by the images when I flicked through it.
I do paper crafts myself but I tend to look at YouTube and Facebook groups for inspiration and tutorials.
I actually learned with the first Stitch & witch book many years ago, the explanations/diagrams are really good! There are tons of superb videos on YouTube these days - I know you asked for a book but I still find it helpful even now to see a demo of someone doing the thing I’m have trouble visualising. DK produce a beautiful hardback called The Knitting Book which shows a library of different stitch types as well as basically info et

I can't stand Sally Rooney.
- She doesn't use quotation marks. It's gimmicky and adds nothing to the narrative. It's also pretty ironic how a writer doesn't value language or respect her own craft.
- She's lazy. She likes to throw words around like "marxism," but she doesn't ever actually give us anything beyond the surface.
- She's not a good writer. She uses passive-voice too often, imo.
- She's a hypocrite. I don't want to hear about elitism, marxism, etc. from an author whose books are marketed to hell in mainstream media by a big name publisher. She is very much a part of the capitalistic machine.
- She's annoying in interviews.

it’s okay- my main problem is with the voice that the author gave the characters. A lot of them sound very immature - perhaps it’s a purposeful choice but it really didn’t work for me, and being a stranger to Mexico some of the stories feel like kids imagining the most outrageous things that they think make them sound cool
The few stories that mix religion into them are fantastic and really captivating imo
The supernatural elements came in really late so it feels very random, but I will say parts of it do make for some good reading

Favouriting patterns and yarns like a mad-woman. 
I agree overall. I find her to be super overrated and have never felt like her books deserve mlre than 3 stars. But on the plus side, it's probably part of why I enjoyed the Normal People mini series so much. The book was so superficial that the acting really gave the story the nuance it lacked, and it ended up being the rare adaptation that I liked better than the book.

God I loved the series. It was so beautiful. I read the book after and enjoyed it, but I’ve watched the series a couple of times.
Finished my fifth book of the year - thirty, flirty and forever alone by Christine riccio. It was a first reads, gave it three stars. Didn’t hate it but wouldn’t read it again. I’m usually a pretty fast reader and I read a decent chunk every day and it still took me five days to finish - it was just so long!
I never believe any of the 'laughed out loud' quotes on books, as it's never that funny.
I just saw an iplayer ad for the Walsh Sisters tv series which is coming some time next month!

I’ve just finished The Correspondent and wow. I’ll admit it didn’t grab me in the beginning because it felt disjointed but then suddenly it clicked and here I am finishing it at 1am. 5

On a different note, I've started Butter by Asako Yuzuki, and I know it was a big thing last year or the year before but it's not really gripping me so far.
