It's not purely about wool but you might enjoy A Short History of the World According to Sheep by Sally Coulthard.

On a different note, I've started Butter by Asako Yuzuki, and I know it was a big thing last year or the year before but it's not really gripping me so far.
I found Butter hard work. The description didn’t really match the book I read and I’d have stopped reading if it wasn’t my book club pick!
I enjoyed Butter as more literary fiction, knowing that it wasn't the crime thriller whatever it was described as. But knowing that before I started meant I approached it differently with different expectations.

So much so i've preordered their next book.

I’ve just finished Darling Girls, quite enjoyed it. On all of your recommendations I’ve lined up The Correspondent as my next read!

I’m so mad about the 2026 movie version of ‘Wuthering Heights.’

They completely ruined it. It’s basically themed version of 50 Shades of Grey. It’s so lazy and clealry a money grab. And Margot Robbie is a ridiculous choice. Just…no.

I was confused enough when I read the book last year thinking it was a love story and seeing the pictures of the film I'm even more baffled. Just make something new or stick to the fracking story  Having said that I hated the book so maybe its a good thing!! :ROFLMAO:

I put in the peri menopause thread that due to my brain fog I literally forgot the library existed (despite being a charity member!). I've been so focused on reading books I own I've not been for months but can't keep buying the next in a series and thankfully had a oh yeh I can bloody borrow them moment!!!!

Have just finished Nero by Conn Igulden - currently obsessed with the Romans and loved this book so much I now need to read his entire back catalogue!!

I wanted to post a pic of my shelves of creative/craft books but I used it a lot on SM so I don't want to be 🍉 - but they are another thing I have an obsession with, The Secret of Colour and there's a book about fabric and one called Craft which are great general reads.

I thought I'd post this here, as I think you're less likely to lynch me out of grumpiness.
It's not about books, but will probably end up on my bookcase, and I'll be going back to the shop to get more.
It's an ornament that I bought to brighten up my home a bit, cost £1.99, but it's having a miraculous effect on people.
Everyone who looks at it starts smiling like a Cheshire cat - big squashy grins.
Even the till operator, as it was actually facing her on the conveyor belt, grinning away at her.
I've done her job and it's a bit soul destroying. She stopped and burst out in a big grin, then looked at me - I was thinking what's up? She even looked me right in the face again and said goodbye when I got the till receipt like we were best buddies.
It's carried on ever since with people bursting out grinning at me the minute it smiles in their face........and all this for £1.99!

That’s super cute and would be great for a bookcase. I’ve actually started adding things to my bookcase but I’m on the look out for more little knick knacks. I’ll come back and share pictures of what I have later, but does anyone else want to share if they have anything on theirs?

Home Bargains. Quite a lot had gone, so people obviously feel the need of a grin.
I'm going back for the yellow one
Think it's knitted or crocheted. 🤔

ETA.
Just done a search for it and OMG it's a thing! Why did I not know this??!!!
I'm going to have to get more!!! I'm in love! 😁

I have a couple of Jellycats on my work desk for the same reason - it’s harder to be grumpy when food with a face is beaming at me from below my monitor
I've still got my mince pie out. Went back and bought another one.

ETA. What a difference a few hours make. 😥
Tattlers are in mourning - Nick the Viking has passed away. 🙏🥰
The build won't be the same without your guardianship, protecting the lads so high up on that roof.
So glad I've got my smiley faced daisy to cheer me up.
Put on another You Tuber and cried all the way through that too with her 🙄, as she introduced her new baby and couldn't stop crying, even though the birth of this baby was better than the last.

I am a long time crocheter, the flowers are super cute. If you were just starting out make sure you put in beginner in your searches. Not insulting you lovely people but some stitches can get really tricky, really quickly.

Took me days to realise there was a new thread 🙈
I've just started Lady Chatterey's Lover - no opinions so far as only 10% in. I'm listening to the audiobook as it's included in my membership and I'm trying to read classics that have been on my lifelong TBR to see if they are worth the acclaim they get.
