Disappointing. I expected a lot more from this but it felt very shallow and repeated “mucus” the whole way through. Perhaps I’m missing the cultural context of it
I thought the ending was trying to make a point, draw a bit of a comparison but it came really short

I love LJ Ross - if you haven’t done so already read her Dr Gregory series. He pops up in a Ryan book to profile a suspect and she’s written a spin off series about him.

Have you read Killers of the Flower Moon? That's the same author. If you enjoyed that you'll probably like The Wager.

That was the first ive read of hers. Got it from the library and it was no 13 in the series. No really enjoyed it though so going to start that series from the beginning, will keep an eye out for the Gregory ones! Thank you!
I've just finished Say Nothing by Patrick Radden Keefe about the Troubles in Northern Ireland. It reads like fiction, was highly informative and well researched. I believe it's now a series on Disney+. For about the fifth time, I'm now rereading Wuthering Heights

Definitely do it! It's a really informative, but hard read. I grew up during the Troubles and it gave so much to me in terms of naunce and context to a time I was so scared by without really knowing anything about it.
After reading Trespasses I wanted to read some non fic on the subject and this sounds like it.
I didn’t know a lot about the troubles - aside from remembering it being on the news in the background when I was eating dinner after school! - until I went to Belfast a few years ago. Really eye opening!
Trespasses was one of my favourite books of 2023! Have you seen the TV series? I haven't yet.
Several of these were school reads alongside my y7 and y8 children so not the most taxingm I just wanted to read 5 or 6 books to understand what was expected of them. I was exceptionally lucky not to read any true duds this month too. January has set the bar high for the rest of the year
