what did you think of love by the book?? Im currently reading Maame and I love it, looking forward to more from the author.
I gave it 4.5
I didn’t love it as much as Maame but still thought it was a very good book.

What did you end up thinking of Half His Age? I was thinking about it and then saw a quite bad review.
I’m torn.. it was a quick and engaging read so I’m tempted to say I’d recommend it on a 99p kindle deal if you’re curious but overall I felt as though it lacked depth.

Women's Prize longlist is out! I've only read The Correspondent so far, but I've got my eye on a couple, namely A Beast Slinks Towards Beijing, and Flashlight.

Anybody got any recommendations?

I’ve read 2 and also have my eye on Flashlight and Beast!
Think I’ll pre-order the paperbacks of Writers and Lovers, Benefactors and possibly Audition if Waterstones do double stamps for World Book Day tomo.

The Mercy Step made me laugh and cry, it is a really clever, witty story. Hard to believe it is a debut novel. Really recommend that one.

I think that and The Correspondent are the only two I have read.

I bought Heart the Lover by Lily King around Christmas. Might need to pull it out of the tbr! Have been meaning to read The Correspondent too, after seeing other tattlers mention it.
The Benefactors and Wild Dark Shore seem interesting but also stressful (to be honest, quite a few of the long list seem stressful!) and I don't think I want a stressful read right now 😅

I'm in a terrible reading rut, haven't picked up anything since the new year because life has been weird and my anxiety is off the charts. Somehow my brain took all this info and translated it to "this is a suitable time to read a behemoth of a book" so I bought Crime and Punishment. Pray for me or wish me luck, I don't even know.

(My heart is more invested in The Count of Monte Cristo but I feel like I'll need training wheels after not touching anything longer than novellas for a long time.)

The Count of Monte Cristo was one of the best books I read in 2025. So readable as @LaBlonde says, feels very fresh and current in terms of its themes and storylines.

And don't be intimidated by it's length. The chapters are really manageable, so work by reading a chapter at a time if you need to. Each little chapter can be enough to need a break from because there is so much happening all the time in the book.

I’m definitely putting The Count of MC on my list

I’m currently reading Building Britannia which was a random loan from the library - really enjoying it but it’s a thick hardback and I’m struggling so much to get in a comfy position to hold it to read 😩

Okay, it's been on my shelf for ages. I am going to read a chapter today to start it and perhaps do a couple of chapters a week whilst reading my other books. I don't want it to collect dust any longer.

Also it's been announced that ACOTAR 6 and 7 are coming, one later this year and one earlier next year. I didn't enjoy the Frost and Starlight that much but I did like Nesta's book. So I'm hoping 6 and 7 are good. In the meantime I'm currently working through Throne of Glass, about to start the Heir of Fire book.

finally! i too didn’t like frost and starlight, but really enjoyed silver flames.

i worry that the next book is going to be very elain focused though and she’s almost as annoying as feyre to me 🥲 at least it will mean more lucien i suppose!

Elain is so boring. I hope if it is her it’s a story where she gets a bit of character about her. I love Nesta.

I wonder when the titles will be released!
It sounds quite mammoth - part 1 is 350 pages, part 2&3 900 pages - so maybe she isn’t focusing just on one character/set of characters.

Surely nobody could write over 1,000 pages about Elain lol
