I am 80% through The Atlas Complex, third book in the Atlas Trilogy and absolutely desperate to finish this dire trilogy. The completionist in me just can’t not finish.

Looking forward to starting 4 advent calendar books tomorrow, plus reading the 2nd and 3rd Lies of Locke Lamora books and finishing Sense and Sensibility next month.

If Norwegian Wood was your first Murakami I think that is some book to go first with, I am a huge fan of his but find that book one of his weakest.

If you are interested in his work theyn I would start with A Wild Sheep Chase and then The Wind-Upk Bird Chronicle

It was my first of his. Norwegian Wood is the one I always see on the must read lists so interested so see that take on it. To be honest I’m not sure I want to dip into more, but will have a look at the suggestions. Never say never!

Good reading day for me. I hit a 500 day streak on StoryGraph and finished Probably Nothing by Lauren Bravo. There’s always something satisfying about finishing a book on the last day of the month to make the stats nice and neat!

5 books for me in November -

Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami - sorry Murakami lovers but this fell a bit flat for me, maybe because I had big expectations going in. I just didn’t really connect with any of the characters so ended up not really caring what happened to them.

The Sittaford Mystery by Agatha Christie - wanted a quick palette cleanser and this did the job. She never lets us down!

Somewhere Beyond The Sea by TJ Klune - I think like most reviews on here this was a bit of a let down after THITCS. It had some lovely moments but let down by the preachy-ness elsewhere.

My Friends by Fredrik Backman - One of my favourites of the year. Loved the characters and the story. All the feels!

Probably Nothing by Lauren Bravo - an ok light rom-com read. One of those I enjoyed but it won’t stay with me.
The one thing I know about Somewhere Beyond The Sea is that the author hates J K Rowling and I got the impression this book was written as a big F O to her!

Finished Addie La rue- 3 starts, picked up a bit slightly at the end but again I just didn’t care enough about the characters so I wasn’t fussed either way about their endings.

I did enjoy the writing style, just the story didn’t live up to the hype for me

he literally has, as the villain, a red haired woman with a j first name (i can’t remember what it is!) who he turns into a caricature of her. i truly don’t get how she hasn’t sent a cease and desist but i guess he’s small fry to her. it was so mean spirited after how lovely the first book was.

I listened to that one on audio and felt like it took me forever to get through

Turns out I’ve read 10 books this month..

Highlights
Slags
Knight & the Moth
Show Don’t Tell

Midlights (not exactly low but didn’t meet expectations)
The Lamb - fine, not particularly memorable
Wild Dark Shore - didn’t live up to the hype (I really really need to try harder to avoid reading hyped up books)

Knight and Moth has been on my TBR for a while.

I’ve not read a book in such a while. Ive just been too poorly. However, I have listened to a fair few audiobooks and some of them have become favourites, where I’ve listened over and over.

anyway, I’m planning on joining in the advent read. I do have one book mentioned. Could I ask which book are we reading?

I just finished The House on the Strand, and I think it will sit with me for a while! Had no idea what it was about when I was going in, and I think that's the best way to approach du Maurier.

Otherwise, my first Claire Keegan, and I also picked up The Correspondent which I loved! Plus the first in On the Calculation of Volume - such a fascinating concept.

My November reads! I’ve just finished Thunderhead tonight and I’m loving the Scythe series! I have the next one from the library ready to go as well so that’s my plan for the rest of the evening 😁

November was very busy so I am still working my way through Posession by A. S Byatt. Really enjoying it but haven't been in quite the right headspace for much reading. Hoping to have a little more time in Dec (I have a long flight in the middle of the month to look forward to, so if nothing else I shall get to read then!)
