nine perfect strangers by lianne moriarty has been made into a TV program now, its on amazon prime, has anyone watched it? i've just put it on but i kind of hated the book so i doubt ill enjoy it

ive started the night she disappeared by lisa jewell, love this author ❤

Really depends which topics you like or want to learn more about but:
Red China Blues by Jan Wong. It's about her experience during the Chinese Cultural Revolution
Dear Leader by Jang Jin-Sung. I really enjoyed this one personally, focused on North Korea and how their propaganda department inside the country runs. Plus, the difficulties he faced when he escaped to China. Fun fact - Kim Jong Il had a Maltese dog, there's a really amusing bit where everyone is terrified to meet him (including the author) and the puppy strides in looking all happy
Without You, There Is No Us by Suki Kim. Also really enjoyed this one, the author taught North Korean elite's children and she was there when Kim Jong-Il died

Quick edit - One Of Them by Musa Okwonga. He attended Eton as a black boy from a fairly working-class family and it's all about that + fitting in back home

Ooo I quite enjoyed the book. Looking forward to watching the programme, even more so since I can’t fully remember how the book went 🤣

Just read The Long Call by Ann Cleeves which is her new one and really enjoyed it so I've now decided that I'm going to read her Vera novels and see if they are any good. First one is called The Crow Trap. Never watched any of Vera on TV which I'm quite glad about.

Started to listen to No-one Is Talking About This by Patricia Lockwood on Audible but had to turn it off as it was making me all stressy. I don't know why, think it must of been the narrator 😂

Whoever mentioned Where the Crawdad sings being pants, I agree. I thought it was just meh.

I got my husband to pick a book of my wish list for my next read and he picked The Last House on Needless Street. I am hooked!! I normally read for about ten minutes before going to sleep but I’ve been on an hour tonight and don’t want to stop. Only the thought of a 3 year old waking me up at 6am is forcing me to close the kindle app.

Well after an afternoon to myself, I’ve whizzed through the second half of The Last House on Needless Street. It wasn’t what I expected it to be but I really enjoyed it. I’ve been so gripped and confused (in a good way) by a book in a while.

Now to pick the next one…my husband did well with TLHONS so I may get him to pick again.

I’ve picked up One Dark Throne and while I’m disappointed I’ll probably continue with the series since it’s still fairly enjoyable. Just the actual pay off has been really poor

Anyway, the author has a horrible habit of just throwing in traditions and other terms that are not explained to the reader at all or really poorly and usually until it’s too late

@Oohthedrama Hello! Can I check what time the readathon thread opens tomorrow? Playing toddler taxi service most of Saturday which does ironically leave a lot of time for reading 🤣

Just started “Your Neighbours Wife”, looks like it’ll be good. Before that I read “The Perfect Lie” by Jo Spain and honestly, it was ok.
