its been so long since i bought it idk what its meant to be about . I've forgotten. in the first few pages she seems to have dementia.. cant think why i bought it in that caseI really enjoyed it. However as a parent and a woman I found it depressingly accurate and relatable and I finished it feeling really sad

but I relate to her feelings and I too do not have dementia just too much on my damn plate 🫠I’ve just finished Demon Copperhead. It took me a little while to get into it (probably 10-15%) but once I did I was hooked. There was a point I actually wanted to stop reading so I could imagine Demon going on to have a happily ever after but I just loved his ‘voice’.
Halfway through A Civil Contract and I'm honestly hoping that the male interest (Adam) will die or something . The audacity of a short, bankrupted, limping man to find his wife 'repulsive' all that because she is a bit too short and a bit plump. She does everything she needs to do as his wife and all he does is embarass his wife in public, pinning for another prettier woman. He can't even do his tea without her

I hate to write negative reviews so have yet to post one. Mind you to be honest I'm also not a big Dickens fan
I listened to this on audiobook, and some bits I found really tough to listen to. I haven't read anything ese by Liz Nugent but I wonder if all her books are as dark? It certainly didn't make me want to see out any others by her.
Me too! I loved Demon’s narration and was really rooting for him.
Yeah, I thought Demon Copperhead was alright, well-written, but didn't see the wow factor at all.
I could do with an uplifting funny book, any suggestions please

he suits the point heyer was trying to make and he’s an interesting contrast to her actual heroes but yes, the absolute worst.Thank you @daisynoon I feel you like are the lorelai to my luke (I completely agree with you, I love the book - it's just Adam he needs to fly himself into the sun)
Have you read Throne of Glass? So many people have told me they preferred that even to ACOTAR.ACOTAR is my favourite series ever, reread it last year. Am aware of the plot holes and SJMs habit of reusing phrases but I still love it
I loved Fourth Wing but thought Iron flame was a complete dumpster fire. The politics completely confused me- it just wasn’t written/ explained well at all and I gave up. Would love to try again but I’ve seen similar feedback with Onyx Storm and all the new characters introduced so maybe Yarross writing just isn’t for me!
I had heard similar things about Iron Flame so I was dubious going into it but I really enjoyed it. It definitely was more complex and some parts I had to read twice to understand what was happening but it was worth it for me. I managed to get an audiobook version of Onyx Storm through my library so just started on that today. Will see how it goes.

It’s a few years old so you may have read it but I loved The 100 Year Old Man Who Climbed Out Of The Window And Disappeared. Funny and very original storyline.I could do with an uplifting funny book, any suggestions please

, I've found myself being a bit wary of things like Kindle. Although I can see their use when travelling.
So when I saw this pop up in my You Tube feed I thought I had to watch.
He talks about everything I was wary of, so in case this is important I'm posting it.
I'd far rather own the books I love rather than run the risk of someone snatching them away or altering/censoring them. Plus there's nothing like the smell of a good book.

If I read a 99p book that I really enjoy then I tend to buy the physical book
I have been to known to have several copies or versions of books I have really enjoyed. For me the kindle is just too useful a device however there are other e readers out there if you dont want to use Amazon but would like an electronic reader. Boox is an option or a Kobo. The 99p offers are usually the same or similar.

I imagine that any ebook vendor will have the same policy as Amazon eventually even if they don't right now, any electronic version is essentially rented.I've seen this recently.
