i absolutely agree with this - i like them both (though admittedly have only read the first book of fourth wing) but acotar is better quality of writing and world-building imo, even though i find violet a more likeable lead. the dragons are far and above the best thing about fourth wing.
i actually liked the first book of acotar a lot because i *whispers* am a tamlin fan, but it absolutely does improve as it goes along.
I read ACOTAR at the end of last year and just started Fourth Wing this month and I am absolutely loving it. I've just finished Iron Flame today and impatiently waiting on a copy of Onyx Storm from the library - trying to resist the urge to just buy it on Kindle so I can start straight away

I finished Anna Karenina!
Wow, you can really tell Tolstoy lost interest towards the end. I was waiting for Karenin's reaction to Anna's death, and it's just an aside that he got Annie? I never really felt as though Vronsky had much affection for Annie, much as he expected Anna to be motherly, so I guess at least she's gone to someone who loves her.
Oh boy, the religion and philosophy was a lot harder to take than the farming. But I'm glad that Levin and Kitty are happy, I loved them both throughout, and the parallels between Anna and Levin were interesting.
Also the clairvoyant deciding on Karenin's divorce? Priceless.
Levin being Tolstoy's self-insert kept me amused all the way through.
What a book! I'll definitely tackle War and Peace at some point, but not for another year or so.

I read Credence by her and wasn’t overly into it so maybe I need to give her another try!

I did like Haunting Adeline funnily enough, and Lights Out (probably my favourite).
I LOVE cowboy themes, especially bull riders
and Lights Out made me wonder if I was into masks too 
I need books with good writing that set the scene and don’t just rush from sex scene to sex scene.
I read books and have the movie playing in my head so when it’s badly written it feels like a chore to read rather than a fun movie to watch/read.
I’m also not into college/young main characters because it feels weird when you’re an old mother goose

If you liked haunting adelaide and lights out ie darker themes I really recommend the LORDS series but Shantel tessier- if you like your morally grey masked type men, you might enjoy this.
lessons in sin and dark notes by Pam Godwin are great reads too.
I loved this, had no idea how they printed books before, its so clever and so fast. Also no idea that they sell that many copies of classics still.
I couldn’t believe how fast it was. I’m sure they said the pages of 20,000 copies are all printed in around 4 hours. 0.5 seconds per book.
Credence is definitely a marmite book. I loved it and feel like there is something wrong with me haha. Penelope uses they / them pronouns btw just an FYI
I see someone else has recommend Birthday Girl. Its better than Credence. The Devils Night series is definitely more dark romance than the other two. So just check triggers. For small town stuff I like Elsie Silvers series.
Liz Tomfordes Windy City Series is so good and also mature characters with other storylines, not just smut.
Elle Kennedys books are good too but all quite young characters which does put me off.
Becka Macks Playing for Keeps series is also good and again adult characters.

I read Strange Sally Diamond over the weekend and cannot believe how dark it was. I'm still reeling from the turn it took and wasn't even going to continue. Persevered because I'd already invested so much time in it. I gave it 3 stars but it's really a 2.5.
ACOTAR is my favourite series ever, reread it last year. Am aware of the plot holes and SJMs habit of reusing phrases but I still love it
I loved Fourth Wing but thought Iron flame was a complete dumpster fire. The politics completely confused me- it just wasn’t written/ explained well at all and I gave up. Would love to try again but I’ve seen similar feedback with Onyx Storm and all the new characters introduced so maybe Yarross writing just isn’t for me!
FINALLY finished In the Fold by Rachel Cusk.. got a bit bored in the end of all this hooray henrys and middle class bints to the point it would send me to sleep.
