I’ve been seeing ‘The Favourites’ by Layne Fargo get raved about a lot recently! Has anyone read it?
I’ve just finished it and really enjoyed it. I was slightly disappointed by the ending but it was very readable.

I’m thinking of buying The Bee Sting. It’s a big book! Before I invest time and money, any thoughts?
There were moments of this book I really liked but it was looooong. And then the ending totally ruined it for me. Far too “I want to win the Man Booker Prize” for my lowly tastes.

I could not cope with that but good for you! My brain will only cope with one book at a time otherwise I get all muddled up!

I'm currently reading Bomb Girls by Jacky Hyams and Shouting the Odds by Jon Franklin and I have to say I'm really enjoying them. Shouting the Odds is definitely the best book that I have read so far this year.

Get it from the library. A decent story ruined by being overly long & rambly with an infuriatingly ambiguous ending. Just my opinion but definitely not worth the hype it got!
I couldn't abide it for all these reasons. And that one chapter with zero grammar. Pissed me right off.

Book buddies I need some recommendations. I have 4 audible credits to use and I don’t know what to get. I’m looking for something along the lines of Before My Actual Heart Breaks 😩 Trespasses, Elinor Oliphant, Strange Sally Diamond that kind of thing. I love an Irish narration
Hit me with your recs ❤❤

I absolutely love the aisling series. So much so, I’m on my third listen and the narrator is Irish too. Lovely books. I thinks so anyway.

i think The Seven Imperfect Rules of Elvira Carr is similar to Eleanor Oliphant.

I’ve just finished The Prison Healer.
I did enjoy it overall, it had the perfect mix of magic without it being the entire plot of the series.
At only 385 pages (on my e-reader) it was a pretty quick read, but I found myself skipping pages to get past repetitive bits and pieces that were mentioned multiple times and overall didn’t really contribute to the plot.
As a smut reader (don’t judge me 😂) I did enjoy it as a palette cleanser as the romance side is sweet and a nice change from … my usual 😂
As everyone has said, the plot twist is FANTASTIC and I did not see it coming. That alone makes me want to read book 2!

I listened to Frankie by Graham Norton recently and really enjoyed it. He narrates himself which is why I find it so easy to listen to his books.

Actually I've not long finished listening to A Keeper (also GN) and wasn't overly impressed by the story, especially in comparison to some of his other books.

I also love Irish narration. I enjoyed all the books you mention. I’d recommend Frankie, Our Little Cruelties, When All Is Said,
