My October reads.
The House in the Cerulean Sea is now one of my favourite ever books 🥰
I really liked Strange Sally Diamond but the end pissed me off.

I was feeling quite pleased with myself that it’d been 11 days since I bought a book (well 2 books, but does it count as 2 reaallly if they were buy one get one half price and both on my TBR?!).. anyway, then I went to The Works and bought 4.
Definitely failing at reading any new books I get this month actually in the month and not increasing my TBR 🫣

But, the important info - one is My Vampire Plus One (with sprayed edges, I didn’t know this existed) and the other is Taming 7 (didn’t know the works had this yet) which means I can now read Redeeming 6 safe in the knowledge I’ve got the next one ready 🤷🏻‍♀️
I'm failing too. Started off the year with around 100 tbr on my kindle and around 50 physical books. Made a new years resolution to read all my books before I would allow myself to buy more, failed that instantly. Now I have doubled my kindle tbr and probably added another 30 physical books to my tbr shelf. Oh well!

Can't believe we're so close to the end of the year! Read a lot from my long-term TBR pile (also added a lot but never mind)

Not a great reading year, I’m really slow in finishing my Goodreads challenge. I’ve lost my mojo a few times this year and struggling to concentrate and get back in 🙁

I just finished 'The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches' - I'd been in a bit of a reading slump and this pulled me right out of it I adored it! It reminded me a bit of the house of the cerulean sea, another lovely one.

Finished The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches this morning and what a bloody treat it was! I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it ❤ and even had a good cry at it. Started Rewitched on audible straight after and just bought 2 more witchy books on kindle 😂🤦🏻‍♀️

Also adults using cutesy words when a shit or fuck would be more appropriate. Oh shoot. I have never ever heard anyone in really life say oh shoot like wtf
😂 I always think this when watching soaps. Like in Emmerdale or Corrie they’ll have a blazing row with someone who’s done something totally heinous to them and they’ll say “you’re a massive cow” 😂

I’ve been thinking a lot about what types of books I love and why and have enjoyed reading all your answers. I think it’s definitely character driven for me. I love any sort of book that has characters I love. For instance Winter Solstice is one of my favourites and I love the characters in that, and also the Thursday Murder Club books, the mystery is secondary to the characters.

also guys i so want to like think again, jacqueline wilson is responsible for me loving books so much in the first place but i am struggling 🥲 no one in it is a believable character, they simultaneously act too young and too old and the dialogue for a 40 year old in 2024 (lots of ever so! terribly! etc) just isn’t hitting. i am SO SAD about it.

(also: needs more magda and nadine).

My library has a special stand for librarian recommendations and a lot of them are what Tattlers have recommended! I wonder if some of them are Tattlers🤔😁
I’ve just recently signed up to be a volunteer at my local library 👀 I’ve not yet worked a proper shift though so can’t take credit for this!

Only 2 books read this month.
I’m halfway through The Safekeep and The Well-Gardened Mind, so hopefully I’ll get a better number in November. However I’m 8 books over on my reading challenge so no pressure on myself now. Just reading for enjoyment!

i’m reading my vampire plus-one right now because 🧛spooky🧛 and it’s nice enough (not as good as the first one though) but i cannot get past the fact that she literally got over the fact that he’s a vampire in about a page. i know this isn’t a deep psychological study kinda book but have some hesitation about it sis

like friends if i posted here like yikes the guy i’m fake dating is a vampire i’m scared would you say (a) lablonde get out of there (b) this is a book thread wtf or (c) lol well have you kissed him yet? because this girl’s bff has gone with c and i’m not sure if that would have been my first response 🤣

I don’t think I’ve got any suggestions for Caffeine Fiend but I just dragged myself out to the supermarket. Whilst there I decided to drop some yarn and craft books to the charity shop as they’ve been sitting in my boot. I then had a browse of the book section and came away with all of these for £4. I then fancied treating myself to a Costa and so I took the Fredrik Backman into the coffee shop. I haven’t read any of his yet but I have loads in my TBR on kindle. I only read one chapter then came home but I loved it and think I’m going to settle down with it after the rest of my chores.
