I am sure I watched an interview with J K Rowling way before the films and she pronounced it Her-me-own-knee because I remember thinking, ‘Brilliant, I’ve heard how the author pronounces it, now I know how to pronounce it.’ I’ve got a very good memory and am sure I didn’t dream it.
I was so confused when the films came out and everyone started saying Her-my-oh-knee.

i feel so validated!!! 🤣

the shakespeare way is with the “my” rather than the “me” so it’s definitely right but i remember watching a winter’s tale for the first time and being like NO. maybe jkr found out the same way 🫣

I was an Australian child who said Her-me-own before the movies came out (I think noting accent is important because we do have fun with some vowels - "No! Cleo!" style 😂)

I’ve been struggling with my reading lately 😔 just haven’t been feeling myself and not getting stuck into books the same as usual.
Decided to go to the library this morning to collect some books and my plan is sofa and books all weekend. Hoping to read at least one book.

About to give up on Tom Lake . It’s just not doing it for me at all. It has had such great reviews but it’s not for me .

also i’m reading green dot (late i know) and i am already extremely fed up with (a) the lead character and (b) the author’s need to describe numerous characters as looking “like they want to die”. i get it’s meant to be about the ennui of being in your early twenties and in a boring office job that isn’t what you expected but she’s insufferable 🤣 does she stay this way throughout? because right now i want to walk into the book and tell her how annoying she is.
okay i take the above back: i’m a third in now and it’s kind of hit a sad girl lit sweet spot for me and i’m into it 🤣 hera is still incredibly annoying and making awful choices but she’s doing it all in a very believable way. her dad is the real mvp of the book though!

I know I'm like 2 years late to the class.

But, i've finally read Lessons in Chemistry and oh my god. It's so amazing.

I felt the same, I did feel sorry for her in the middle and sympathised with the main character.

I wish we got to understand a bit more of her background with her mother, I feel like we would have understood her more but the book just alluded to what kind of happened

what kind of romance do you like? Cheesy happy ending ones? Or more realistic ones?

If the latter I recommend keep me afloat by jennifer gold and very nearly normal by hannah sunderland.

Hera reminds me of so many people I know. Make of that what you will! I know I’ve posted here before about understanding why she would be annoying, but I think because she seems so familiar to m, I couldn’t dislike her. Loved the book!
The best book! They did a tv series too but not sure how it was
I liked the tv show. It was kind of slow, but I liked that about it. The dog didn’t look like I had imagined it would look, but I probably didn’t pay enough attention to descriptions of it in the book.

Me too! The amount of books I’ve started, reached chapter 5 and then ditched has been a lot. I’ve read some great books over the summer and last month, nothing is hitting properly. I did sort of enjoy Little Wing last week (and actually finished it). I’m currently reading Jojo Moyes, Someone Else’s Shoes and it’s been quite good for what I’m looking for atm. Tom Lake was not for me, despite great reviews on here. But I think it was more my frame of mind rather than the book.
