Reached my Goodreads goal of 80 books today now going to aim for 100 by the end of the year.

Not that it matters about numbers as numbers shouldn't matter but does anyone else on here set themselves a reading goal? Are you on track if you set yourself a goal?

Been seriously struggling with depression recently so reading has definitely taken a bit of a hit - I just stopped posting here because it was just all too much. I am back though as I had a very cool delivery this morning - I’ve ordered the first four ‘girls in…’ books by Jacqueline Wilson to prep for Think Again coming out this week. I’m even going to an author talk!

I have been reading the first one and I can almost feel like I am 11 years old and it’s 1999 again.

After months of reading it in sections I finally finished Les Miserable this morning! The longest book I’ve ever read I think…although the term “read” feels a little bit fraudulent as there were big chunks I skimmed over!

I’m not totally sure what I think about it yet. I’ve been obsessed with the musical for years so I did love seeing where those characters and storylines came from. Some elements of it made more sense in the novel (mainly cos they could build up and play out over longer periods of time than they can in the musical) but there were other differences, mainly in the characters, where I 100% prefer the musical version.

Overall really glad I gave it another go after giving up a couple of times before, it actually feels like an achievement! Will I be tempted to read it again at some point - absolutely not! It’s the musical all the way for me from now on.

I’m also gutted that the last book I will read will be the last of the series 🥲 Osman has a new series coming out this autumn but it won’t be TMC. I love the gang and look forward to the Netflix adaptation!

Same here! I’ve been lucky enough to get an ARC of the new Osman book but not started it yet.
TMC is bitter sweet for me now, my friend and I started the series together and were so looking forward to watching the film but she died suddenly a couple of months ago. I’m still going to watch the film and read the books as she would have wanted me to and I’ll raise a glass to her. 🥹

I've just had a look at my Kindle and I'm surprised by how many books I bought last month that I forgot about. I have at least 120 I haven't read already. Between that and my charity shop book habit I'm going to have to do nothing but read for the next decade to get through them.

Currently wrapped in a duvet with a cat on me with nothing else to do though. Best Sunday.

Finished Riders and enjoyed every single second of it. Just daft fun with lovable characters. Immediately bought Rivals for later this evening. Don't tell my 99p deals.

Also, I went to a concert alone and queued early, so I killed loads of time on my Kindle. And yes, I did get it out in the pit whilst waiting for the band to come on stage. I heard people talking about the merits of e-readers behind me

Also the lovely librarian would not take any money for the ripped book. Thankfully it was the introduction page he’d ripped. She ripped out the half page that was left and said “see sorted, no worries at all”
