I adored The House In The Cerulean Sea too. I’m not a fantasy reader so don’t have much to compare it to but I think it’s more a hybrid of genres rather than pure fantasy? Either way it’s a beautiful book! Can’t wait for the sequel to come out.Since joining the library and this thread I have taken note of recommendations and read a far wider range of books. Some that will stay in my heart forever....
So having recently finished what has been described to me as a fantasy book, and then finally getting my hands on this intriguing book....we'll all I can say is yes, I too have fallen in love with this book and its characters. If you want my opinion for nothing I think it should be made into a film.
I'd rather watch this than all the usual bilge served up at the cinema.....and it's something the world needs to watch with the state the world is in.
As I would self describe myself as a bit of a soft ha'porth I might unfortunately embarrass whoever I went to see this at the cinema with if they made a film of it, as I did find myself sobbing at some points in the book but also laughing at others.
I only know that when I hear the song Somewhere Beyond The Sea next there might be the suspicious glint of a tear in my eye.

Some of my favourite books EVER have come from this thread, and I have read thrillers, sci-fi and fantasy....all which I'd never picked up before. ngl i plan to say “this is going to ruin the tour” for every minor inconvenience i face until at least the end of the summerI've already finished the Mhairi McFarlane! I saw some people on goodreads say that it should have been a novella, but I'm glad it was a full book, I really enjoyed it!

Patiently waiting until mid-July for the UK release of her new book.
We’ve all been there!Twice this week I've read about the most fun we've ever had on here and both times thought to myself I need to add this to my wishlist.
Gone to Amazon on both occasions to find out I bought it in Dec
I've read all her books and they are easy to follow along with. I really enjoy her writing, she knows how to create atmosphere and keep you glued to the pages. She lives locally so I always thought the area would be in her novels but nope
Plus there is one in October. If you look at her publication dates then it's crazy. Either she's using chatgp or she wrote loads of novels before being published. It's really mad when you look at the dates
