None of This Is True by Lisa Jewell is brilliant on audio.
Depending on what your thing is Prophet Song and Before My Actual Heart Breaks are both very very good too
Thanks I’ll look into those too! Yes, I really loved the narration of None of This is True on audio - probably my fav listen so far this year.

I bit the bullet and got a kindle… it arrived Sunday and I am OBSESSED.

I read what I had left of All The Light We Cannot See (about 80%) on it and am already 60% through The Maidens. It definitely makes it easier to just pick and read a little bit in free time that I would otherwise have wasted on my phone.

Also I’m deep in the 99p deals now 🥲 rip mt bank account

Today my husband took me to a brilliant coffee shop that also sells books and flowers. I sat looking at their (limited but well edited) book selection whilst enjoying a flat white. Ended up coming home with Piglet and really looking forward to eventually reading it.. by pile is huge 😂
Told the husband we can only go once per month haha

A gate sign I walked past yesterday, that I think a lot of us would welcome from time to time 😏

I'm still in a reading slump. I was on a roll in Jan -Feb but now I'm like ughhhhh. My attention span is shot to pieces.

Honestly modern life wrecks your attention span. I also have neurodiversity in my corner where I do 5 things at once but I cant even watch TV anymore. I dont have the attention span to do it :(

I'm the same and the last few months i also seem to be a lot more addicted to scrolling on my phone. I've been telling myself to put the phone down and have an early night for 2h now, yet here I am 🤔

For anyone with NetGalley... when I post my reviews they used to automatically send to Goodreads but this doesn't happen any more and I have to manually add the book and review to GR. Have I knocked a setting off or is this happening across the board?

This resonates!
Have you read Stolen Focus? I think I’ve mentioned before now I’m typing but I read it last year and found it quite eye opening as to how my attention is being destroyed.. having said that I found it so easy to slip back into my previous habits. It covers quite a range in factors from big tech/mobile devices to diet.

I feel like I opened a can of worms with the Freida McFadden talk 😱 I just enjoy a bit of easy reading which is exactly what her books are. I’ll have to read some of the books she plagiarised!
---

Did you enjoy it? I read it very quickly too but wasn’t sure I actually thought it was a good book, just a page turner.
I agree. If I’m struggling to get into anything, I’ll read one of her books and it gets me back into reading again

Right you lot. I finished Preloved the other day and I loved it. We all know how much I adore my detective, crime, thriller books so this was a complete step out of my genre and I was sceptical at first. But the more I read the more it sucked me in. I devoured it in about 10 hours.

So, now you all have done that to me and had me read something so different to my usual. Do you have any other similar books to recommend? No EmHen, she makes my eyeballs sore.

I am happy to broaden my horizons a bit more now!

I bought a book. I’m not even sorry, awful appointment at the speech therapist and buying a book helped soothe my broken heart. It was only 99p and Jodi would be glad 🤣💔

I am slumping too! bah. Like everyone else I am spending too much time on my phone/computer. Need to be stricter with myself about screen time I think.
