After a disappointing 0 books read in August, I did finish The Marriage Act by John Marrs today. A 4 star rating from me - I always enjoy his books and this was no different. I just found the ending a bit too rushed.

Sometimes I check on amazon to see when my list of authors have new books due. Anyway was doing that tonight when I thought about Terry Hayes. So I decided to Google if his book will EVER be released and you guys I think we might get it this year!
I know somebody else mentioned it in earlier threads but according to this article I think it will happen

Have you read any of Maeve Binchy’s novels? They’re very well-written, but easy to read.

Forced myself to finish True Crime Story today. Very underwhelmed and it's taken me ages to finish this. It put me into a bit of a reading slump to be honest.

My thoughts exactly! It just went on.. and on.. and on… 🫠

I liked the series he did so had high hopes but no, it was rit. He’s not done another book since has he?

I only read I Am Pilgrim a year ago and I remember googling afterwards to find out when the next would be released and getting excited over a rumoured release date before some kind souls on here let me know that there have been numerous “release dates” that have come and gone

I’ve only been waiting 10 years . The only reason this seems a but more legit is because they are actually quoting Terry Hayes in the article. But who knows 🫠

Does anyone know if Audible send out the 3 months half price offer again? They sent it a few times after I cancelled, but I resisted and now I’m in the mood for audiobooks
I do use Libby but Audible has more recent releases and some podcasts I like.

I finished Don’t Make a Sound and my heart was hammering hours after, thank you for the recommendation, it was one of the best thrillers I’ve read.

Oh man I did that earlier this year with my kindle. A lot of non fiction self help stuff gone. And what I imagine were Amazon first reads cos no idea why I’d have paid for them. I’ve not touched my kindle books since I’ve gotten netgalley as I’m under pressure to keep my review score high. And yet I still check every daily deal 🫠

This is me, reading ARCs like crazy to keep my % up on Netgalley . Honestly find it takes the enjoyment of reading sometimes

Just finished Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn, SO much better than Gone Girl. 5 stars from me.

Do you usually like Sally Rooney. If so it does get better. I really liked it. I also listened on audio.

I'm trying to read the serpent and the wings of night for my bookclub but it doesn't grip me at all so far and now I'm scared it'll put me in a reading slump. I think I'll set it aside for now and read some other things first because I haaaate slumps

I think Im going to stop requesting ebooks on borrow box and only use it for audio.

I really dont like reading on my ipad. I find it clunky and it hurts my eyes. Its a shame as its a way to access books for free but I am struggling to even want to pick it up despite the book being decent.

LOVED Sharp Objects. The TV series of it is amazing, Amy Adams is incredible. Also really enjoyed Dark Places by Gillian Flynn, and the film adaptation with Charlize Theron was good too. Would love another Gillian Flynn book!

I really dont like reading on my ipad. I find it clunky and it hurts my eyes. Its a shame as its a way to access books for free but I am struggling to even want to pick it up despite the book being decent.

Meanwhile, I do alllll my reading on my iPad whilst my kindle sits unloved in a drawer!

If you hate the reading experience, free is still too high a price to pay, they’d really need to be paying you to read it

Its funny how different we all are isnt it great there are so many ways to read. I think Im also too easily distracted so if I find the ipad heavy or eyes sore I just put it down and then scroll or whatever.

I can’t read on the iPad. Kindle or real books but honestly I prefer my kindle because of weight etc.
