I’ve hit my yearly reading goal!! This will be the most books I’ve ever read in a year and it’s only August don’t think I’d do it without this thread and the amazing recommendations and discussions, thank you all

Genuinely owe this to this thread for helping me find books that made me fall in love with reading again, for introducing the idea of StoryGraph to motivate me, and for generally helping me find more balance and self worth by prioritising myself for 100 days!

It's like when you go to buy a book because someone's recommended a 99p deal and then amazon tells you that you already purchased it and then you look and you've actually read it and rated it on goodreads

Been a lot of chat about Coho on here before and I think she is marmite. However wont stand for snobbery or bad mouthing on here. You like what you like and if it means someone somewhere is reading I think its great.

The only thing that I will give off about with Coho is her romanticism of toxic relationships. It concerns me younger adults will read her books and think some behaviour is ok when its not.

My favourite author is Fredrick Backman. Do I even need to say that? Probably not

Or do as Cara does and use the book club thread to not read the book but avail of all the free insights from those that did and you can then swiftly remove the book from your TBR pile!

Kudos to all you steam rolling through those books. I don't know how you read so many, I only read about 1 or 2 a month

It's not about quantity everyone has different free time to read and I would actually argue sometimes if you read less quantity then youre probably choosier about what you do read and have more 4 and 5 stars as a result.

I walk 2 idiotic dogs twice a day so do audio books during those when theyre off having their sniffy time.

I dont watch much tv and lock my phone away at times so that if Im procrastinating I read my kindle or book instead. My phone and social media is a huge time drain. I dont actually actively avoid my phone to read more, but to help my mental health as Im prone to really bad bouts of poor mental health and can identify that doom scrolling makes it so much worse.

I'm not sure who my favourite author is.

Agatha Christie is for sure my most read.

Fredrick Backman has a 100% 5 star rating so far. 3/3.

I've liked everything I've read by Ted Chiang, Sarah Moss, Janice Hallett, Emily Henry, Richard Powers, Emily St John Mandel and Anthony Horowitz and would always buy their books.

Patrick Ness is my comfort author.

Phillip Pullman defined my childhood.

Italo Calvino and Bret Easton Ellis defined my pretentious edgelord teenage years.

Kazuo Ishiguro was my literary adult discovery.

Sarah J Maas allowed me to give up being pretentious and literary and admit I'm obsessed with faerie porn.
