lessons in chemistry is one of my favourite reads of the year, glad you’re enjoying it!
Just finished and thoroughly enjoyed it. So funny and heartwarming!

Not sure what to read next. I'm thinking maybe They Both Die at the End. Has anyone read it? It's been on my TBR for a while and I found it in the charity shop the other day...although I'm not meant to be buying any new books. Oops.

i liked they both die at the end very much! it’s a very clever and interesting idea, executed well, and it made me cry. you can’t ask for more from a book really 💙

I thought They Both Die At The End was lovely. Not a 5 star read because I disagreed with some plot choices, but it was emotional and full of feeling without being manipulative sorrow porn, it has surprising positivity.

I've decided to go on a book buying ban for 2023 and I may have to mute this thread 😥🤣

Got so many amazing books to come next year but I need to reign it in. I have about 120 unread physical books. And probably the same on my Kindle.

I'm thinking I should make this my new years Resolution. No buying new books until I've read all my unread books. And even if I stuck to it, I'm pretty sure I'd be able to make the same resolution next year as well.

But I give myself a couple of months max before I break and I buy more books.

I know the feeling! I've told myself birthday and Christmas gifts don't count since I'm technically not buying them 🤣 So if I really want a book desperately, I add it to a birthday/christmas Amazon wishlist. I'm lucky to have a brilliant library nearby too.

I failed at a book ban so decided to go for a ‘must buy less books than read in a month’ rule so I’d at least slowly reduce my pile.. it went well for 2 months then totally went off piste - not helped by subscribing to a book box!

I’m a terrible person to try and get on side for a book buying ban, sorry 🫣

As has been said before, buying books and reading books are two different hobbies. There are worse things to be addicted to and spend money on etc. Anyway, I realise I won’t be helping 😅

I’ve started It Ends With Us today and although I’m not yet at the point where I quite see all of the hype, it’s an enjoyable read and I’m looking forward to getting through some more later. I also have It Starts With Us on audio to listen to after.

Currently listening to Apples Never Fall by Liane Moriarty and it’s loooong - 18+ hours. It’s okay, but I’m wondering when something is actually going to happen. I like the narration though so it’s fine.

Just picked up The Christmas Bookshop by Jenny Colgan. Not too far in but I'm enjoying it

Apparently in Japanese there’s a word for buying books and letting them pile up without reading them!
Google tells me the word is tsundoku

Love that bookmark!

I was thinking at the start of the month, I’d love to receive a book advent calendar 😅 if I was making one for someone, I’d shop for charity shop books I know they’d like and wrap them up 😍 probably a good thing that my boyfriend would never think to have that idea for me really otherwise I’d be well and truly in the tsundoku club!

At the moment I like to think I’m just dipping my toes.

I am on a book buying ban. I received 23 books from my Instagram birthday book club, 13 books from my husband and 31 from extended family. We exchange books instead of greetings cards, Jeff Bezoes selling some books for £4ish, by the time you are paid for a card and a stamp that is £4.

Anyway, book buying ban. 🫣

I’ve got hundreds of books sat unread and I’m trying so hard to make a dent in them! 🫣

I’m trying to make more use of my local library rather than spending loads of £ on books to only read once!

I have over 500 unread on my kindle, 45 unread on audible and loads more unread paperbacks. Every time i leave my mums flat she gives me another book or two.

I have read 108 books so far this year and will definitely finish at least another 2.

Every year I say I will not buy any more, but I get suckered in! It doesn't help that I have to buy a book a month for my bookclub and then the amazon first reads (i'm not turning down free books!).

I am definitely going to try and get my tbr on goodreads down to less than 500 this year, its at 540 so that should be achieveable.

I’ve done well at not buying books this year! I think next year I’m going to try harder! Use the libary even more and drop out of some book clubs (not that I’m part of loads) but that’ll save me some ££ and cut down on the TBR. I think next year I might just about get on top of the kindle one!

I’m really trying to buy less books and read what I have. I have loads of physical books, plus a kindle with over 600 books on it 😬 that includes over 60 NetGalley books. I also have audible and get a credit a month. 🆘

If there’s a book I really want to read I’m going to get it from the library instead of buying it. I’m lucky my library service is very good.
