adored it, agree with all criticism of ithi everyone, just wondering if anyone has read ' a little life' and what their thoughts were? I'm about 200 pages in - I'm not a particularly fast reader, but I have to say this is a slow read due to there not being much action and more a recalling of events.
I would love to see opinions (without too many obvious spoilers)!
Im about 1/4 of the way through it and have stopped for a while. I really struggled with the slow progress of it. I really would like to finish it this year though.hi everyone, just wondering if anyone has read ' a little life' and what their thoughts were? I read it around February and I liked how I was reading it easily for the first 200-300 pages then it gets sad. I liked the language but didn’t like the events and cried in the last 300 pages. It will be in my 2022 highlights because i have never read a similar book before. Overall i liked it but haven’t recommended it to anyone because it’s really heavy. I have highlighted the parts that made me sad, angry, shocked and i can say almost all of the book is highlighted and i’ll keep the book a little life was a rollercoaster of emotions for me.hi everyone, just wondering if anyone has read ' a little life' and what their thoughts were? I read it in a few days because I really liked it but would be sat in my room literally SOBBING. It is a tough read but it’s one of my all time favourites. I read it very fast but I can only do that when I really, really like a book. I can appreciate it takes others a lot longer!hi everyone, just wondering if anyone has read ' a little life' and what their thoughts were? I adored Shuggie Bain, my fave read in a long time - I was the opposite with that, I read it really fast for me, took me less than a week!I read it in a few days because I really liked it but would be sat in my room literally SOBBING. I dont think I’d recommend it to others though as some of the events were extremely triggering. I found Shuggie Bain similar in a emotional/ torture style but didn’t devour that as quickly as I didn’t connect with the characters in the same way.
I was umming and ahhing for ages too so ended up borrowing it from the library.I’ve been tempted to buy A Little Life so many times, I think it’s the length that puts me off more than the content. I see so much about it that I feel like I’m missing something by not reading it. I’m deciding what to buy for the kindle spend £10 get £5 free so I might go with that
oooo i enjoyed boys don’t cry very much - that’s a great selection!I’ve just gone with A Little Life, Boys Don’t Cry by Fiona Scarlett and The Housewarming by SE Lynes. I think with my credit it’ll be a toss up between Take it Back by Kia Abdullah and Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter
I read it and absolutely loved it. No doubt it's a hard read but it's so compelling and beautifully written. In my top 3 books for sure. It definitely starts off sloooowwwww though. You need to persevere to reap the rewards. But, yes, not for the faint hearted or those who may be triggered by certain themes.hi everyone, just wondering if anyone has read ' a little life' and what their thoughts were? loved your honest opinion, thank you!A little life was awful!
It’s literal misery porn, and it’s so hyped up a controversial read that I picked it up and I fully regret that now.
I found it tiresome and boring, half the book could be cut out as it’s just filler.
I must be heartless as I didn’t cry, I just willed it to end just to stop the endless narrative of apologising and misery.
The author literally threw everything she could at Jude to see how much would stick and how much she could pull at the heart strings of the reader.
The other characters were so detached and caught up within themselves that it made it unbelievable that they could choose to ignore or be blind to the obvious.
That book was a battle of the wills for me, I refused to let it beat me even though I hated it so I carried on as a hate read and it put me in a massive reading slump.
That’s just my 2 pence worth and I hope you find something within it that I didn’t, don’t be shocked if you start to feel generally quite depressed while reading it.
Yeah I can really see how it’s not everyone’s cup of tea!A little life was awful!
