Well I’m not is fan Joel whatsoever. He never stops harping on about his kids especially the new baby (in case you didn’t know).
And what a surprise to hear him now filling in for Vernon this week. Surely to god we can get more than Joel and Ellie constantly filling in for everyone. Neither of them can hold a show without the ‘tell me about a time when you?… etc etc’.
I like a good proper DJ who knows their music, actually remembers to tell who the artist is their playing, has a bit of history or gossip on them. These lot haven’t got a clue and rely on Joe Public to tell some mundane or cringe story. I find it hard to believe people really do message in with all these daft stories, I reckon it’s the production team busily trying to help fill 2 1/2 hours!
Anyway that’s my opinion.

I always say that about Joel whenever I see him on something, how often will he shoehorn in he's married and has children. Like ok, good for you but he mentions it all the time. I've never really been a fan of him but I really warmed to him on Taskmaster just wish he'd mention the wife and kid less

I would have loved Gary Davis to have stood in this week. He's not been on much apart from his Saturday night slot. Although I don't mind him,Joel seems to be everywhere at the moment.

Radio 2 is an absolute shambles I only listen to Jeremy now, spend my day listening to Absolute, R1 Dance or my Spotify. Can’t listen to Sara at all and Joel was painful this morning

Are we all just getting old and aging out of Radio 2? I have listened faithfully since my teens, Terry Wogan's breakfast show will never be bettered, but now I'm in my forties, maybe I need to find pastures new.

Paul Gambaccini's Collection on Sunday evenings was terrific. He's such a good DJ. Interesting stories and snippets about the artists. Not banging on about himself. Not requiring public input. You can see he worked hard at crafting an excellent show.
The other thing he always does, vanishingly rare, is tell you again at the end of the record who it was. Drives me mad when they don't do that.

I so agree with you. Maybe I’m getting old but DJ’s used to be so intelligent and really knew their stuff. Vernon is awful. So mundane and relying on some crap that listeners send in. He isn’t funny either. He’s nice but that’s it. I don’t want a bland nice presenter. Mind you, I think everything is now bland and boring across the media. Some of the rubbish presenters on TV are diabolical….thats another rant

Sounds is your friend you can find anything you want on there. I found a northern soul show from radio Yorkshire which ve downloaded to listen to on my evening walks this week.
