Spoony has been great and so respectful to Trevor. Literally every day saying I’m here looking after things for Trevor. Did a good show but didn’t try to take over which you sometimes see others do. Just found it very classy.

Update from Trevor Nelson on his instagram - good news he’s well and should be back on the radio soon.

It was so much better with Gary and the team this morning. They gel so much better with natural nattering and it’s all just so much more relaxed. When Sara’s on it’s like they are all too nervous to say much as Sara is meant to be the ‘funny’ one. The lack of kids in a car was outstanding. I pray to god that with kids going back to school they will kill that feature once and for all. Surely it will not work when all kids are just going to school!
The team combo on Sara’s show and the games and annoying noises just aren’t working. I’m guessing they will switch out Ellie once they’ve figured out a suitable replacement and when to then put Ellie as her and Sara aren’t working together at all.
I remember thinking Gary was so dry and dull after Scott was fired but then compared to Sara he’s so much easier to listen to and has grown on me a lot 🫣

It must be that the drive time gig was given to Trevor before he went off sick so now they are waiting to see if he’s coming back etc. Perhaps Joel will get Trevor’s slot if that did happen. He’s by far the best stand in.
I noticed with Sara’s show it’s particularly bad during my commute 8-8:30 and seems to get better towards 9 when she calms down slightly and often has a guest so it is less listener heavy. It’s like before then she’s manically trying to entertain children that are off to their fancy holiday clubs. I don’t recall Scott or Zoe (other than qi elves questions once a week) ever bothering much to interact with kids. It was targeted to adults. Sara is hosting it likes she’s on CBBC. Have they decided that’s their new target??

Not to sound dramatic 🤣 but I’m just so sad about the current demise of Radio 2. I know lots of you have said it already, but just a few months ago it had a pretty good weekday line up and now I barely listen during the week. It’s also a worry about Trevor Nelson being poorly, he’d become one of my daily favourites.
Fingers crossed he’s on the mend before too long and that management sort the rest of it all out! 🤞🏻

They’re just using the radio to chase social clicks now. It’s stupid. People don’t turn in to hear someone because they recognise them off the telly. They tune in for good broadcasting. Sometimes they can go hand in hand - I love Rylan’s show and think Romesh is good - but more often than not it’s utter tosh - Ellie is awful, I don’t like Emma Willis’s show at all. I think it’s why I miss Scott’s show - he understood that the radio is supposed to be like companionship rather than like being talked at.

Bob Harris is retiring due to ill health. He has cancer and has been undergoing radiotherapy. Wishing him all the best, his voice is just unique and made for radio. I don't even particularly like country music but always tuned in to listen as he was the consummate radio presenter!

I hope we end up with an actual radio presenter (OJ, Spoony or Shaun would be my picks) for drive time rather than a bother bloody tv presenter

Greg’s post about Barney is so sad but I did really like that he said he obviously wouldn’t be on air today - I think it’s really important to normalise the grief we feel for our fur babies.

I really like Mark Goodier in the drive time slot. It just shows the difference between a presenter & a DJ.

To be honest, if I was Vick I wouldn’t be going back to work at all…I would just be living my best life in my millionaire Ibiza mansion!

If the bbc are cutting 1 in 10 staff they can start with Richie Anderson. But I reckon if oj gets breakfast he get oj overnight slot as he already does one of his nights.

I can’t see Greg leaving radio but I can see him switching stations, it’s his one true love and he’s been radio mad since he was a kid (I’m reading his book). Either to r2 or elsewhere. But since he kept the TS wedding a secret it’s clear the listeners aren’t his friends in the way he pretended (I get he was under strict nda but he explicitly lied for months he could have just not mentioned it). And he’s been off a lot since I’ve switched back to R1 since Scott left
i don’t really get what he could have done/said differently about TS’s wedding? he wasn’t allowed to say anything so told the odd white lie. i don’t think anyone cares

I thought Rylan’s attitude on Saturday about missing his show also spoke volumes. He couldn’t give a shit.
I love Rylan but I was a bit disappointed in his reaction too. I can’t believe he was only intending to fly home the morning of - surely you wouldn’t leave it that late anyway, and would get home the day before! Shows how much he cares and respects his gig at R2.

I’m not anti-kids and hope to be a Mum one day but my fucking GOD the kids in the car does my head in. It’s so insipid and middle-class.
