Dean saying leaving was his choice. Interesting that they don't thank their boss Aled or mention by name those they worked with. The statement from Nat is very blunt. You'd think she'd mention Vicky.

It's going to be fun to see who the outgoing lot unfollow on Instagram.

Ain't no way Dean was given the choice in staying or leaving 🤣 I can't see Dean or Vicky ever having such high profile positions again.

It really makes me wonder how much longer we will have Greg on the radio for. It’s the only thing keeping me a R1 listener. Dunno where else I’d listen to as can’t stand heart purely cos of Amanda Holden

I ended up listening to bloody TalkSport this morning and not Sara, the bicycle bell and other sound effects at half 7 on a morning aren’t for me!

I'm not listening to the radio today because I suspected that it would just be people going on about the football endlessly 😅

I can’t see Greg leaving radio but I can see him switching stations, it’s his one true love and he’s been radio mad since he was a kid (I’m reading his book). Either to r2 or elsewhere. But since he kept the TS wedding a secret it’s clear the listeners aren’t his friends in the way he pretended (I get he was under strict nda but he explicitly lied for months he could have just not mentioned it). And he’s been off a lot since I’ve switched back to R1 since Scott left

I’d disagree that he is off a lot. I think for a main presenter doing 5 shows a week his % off air days are going to be pretty low in my opinion

i don’t really get what he could have done/said differently about TS’s wedding? he wasn’t allowed to say anything so told the odd white lie. i don’t think anyone cares

yeah i really don’t think it’s that big a deal 🤣 or it’s certainly not a huge betrayal. she legit told him he would get an invite on air and it kept getting brought up - what was he supposed to do 🙃

Gk barry voice goes right through me on those razor ads & there on 30 seconds long...
For some reason I thought for ages that GK Barry was trans. Goodness where I thought I read it

R2 have now lost me at teatime- Ellie is dreadful and as much as I like Sara I'm not loving breakfast.

People tune in to the radio to listen to DJs. Social media people their followers aren't radio people. I don't think their fan base will start listening to Radio 1 just because they are there.

Greg James really should jump ship. He would be ideal for either mid afternoon if Trevor doesn't come back or the new drive time host for Sara. I wonder if they are holding off announcing someone because they are holding out hope of Greg changing his mind. It would make sense why the new permanent host has dragged and dragged.

I get listener figures have gone down, but I believe it's down to too many cooks spoil the broth. Most shows are more than one person and it's not needed, Greg proves that.

Do we need three when Vick, Katie and Jamie host together? Did we need three with Ricky, Melvin and Charlie? No we didn't and I can see why they got rid of a couple of late 40s guys who are too old for the station.

Did we even need two hosts which we had with Vicky and Nat? I would have kept Nat. Yes her overuse of hun is annoying but she's pretty good, can get better and she's the right age to be on the station, as well as being an actual DJ.

Do we need two with Matt and Mollie? One of them is a singer not a DJ. The station would save a lot of money just having one DJ (that's DJ!!!) per show.

Matt Edmondson did one of his “ a very good question” videos on why some shows have one presenter and others have a zoo. He said it’s because people like shows that feel conversational , and even single presenter shows will usually have a producer who will be on air - he mentions Greg and producer Chris as an example. He also pointed out that all stations will be keeping an eye on the data - as soon as having multiple people stops being profitable, they’ll cut them .

Emil Franchi posted a video on Instagram that he filmed on the day he found out he’d got the weekend breakfast show on r1 .He more or less echoed what some have said here- he was listing off all the regional stations he’d worked on over his 12 years in the industry, and most of them were now defunct. Theres less and less opportunities for people to hone their skills, and big stations aren’t willing to take the chance of unknowns.

But this is the bbc all over, they do the same with strictly, you tubers and tiktokers, alienating their core audience, all gimmicky themes, not using the core dances.

To be fair though I think influencers are often very used to keeping an audience entertained while being alone

It makes sense to throw them into duo or triple slots so that they’re not overwhelmed at the start and then transition them into a solo slot like Greg

Not sure what GK Barry is going to be doing but she did have a slot on the weekend in the afternoon I think? So she has some experience under her belt

I think my problem with a lot of DJs is just that they’re not that entertaining and I don’t particularly care what they speak about.

Greg has found a niche with interacting with uni students primarily and jumping off those jokes but I can’t imagine it being very entertaining for some other age groups - so maybe the problem is just that they’re BBC tries to appeal to a wider audience

Same, and it sounds silly but I’m missing it in my routine of driving home from work! 😩 Luckily I don’t have far to go ha ha. Actually, depending on the day, sometimes I catch the end of Spoony’s cover for Trevor and I’m enjoying him at least - I hope they don’t keep swapping cover for that show around at least! 🤞🏻

As I previously mentioned I don't get to listen to breakfast radio, I am missing Sarah at Drive-time, hope this may change when they get a regular presenter. I miss the Saturday line up of Tony,Dermot being followed by Graham/ Claudia, then Pick of the Pops for me Romesh and Emma shows are too laid back.
It may be because I am working and need the boost while others that aren't want things at a slower pace.

Vernon was joking about Trevor enjoying the golf which I hope is a good sign. I love Spoony but I'm worried about Trevor.

Is Sally travel a solely travel person or does she do anything else on radio or in showbiz? I've wondered this for ages because she seems to have good banter with Dermot, Rylan and Emma whenever I've listened.
