This is all extremely sad. Terrible for someone's child who is addicted to crack and funding their addiction this way and sad for everyone if it does indeed turn out to be HE because I think everyone thought he was one of the good ones :(

What I don't understand is how, if you are in the public eye, you risk your entire career and reputation on this sort of stuff but they do, time and time and time again. Makes zero sense to me.
I was just saying it to my OH. How huge are the egos of these people!? Things like this will always come out eventually.

Also feeling for whoever needs to share the n

What I’m still trying to get my head around was, why the mum didn’t go the police instead of the paper .

Sun said two concerned parents, thought it was just the mother.

it’s so confusing my head hurts
Maybe she was scared for her child seeing as they allegedly were using drugs, she may have thought her kid would be in trouble? She may have thought if she went to the source of the money to get it to stop her kid wouldn't have the funds for their habit ?

My thoughts about this were that because their child who was 17 initially may not have wanted to press any charges? As in the police couldn't act upon hearsay from the mum?

I know I did some stupid shit when I was a teen, in fact it terrifies me that I will be raising teenagers soon enough.

If I found out some older man, never mind news presenter had a weird kink and was sending my kid money, I'd be disgusted too and would want everyone to know that the person was a total creep 🤷

I'm not siding with the mum and I'm still trying to catch up on posts from 6.30pm but it's too strange a think to make up and go to the newspaper about?

Either way, it was a juicy scandal and now I can't ever look at a pringles tub or a peach the same way again.

But parents do get things wrong, they can do things that aren't in their children's best interests, and they can be manipulated. Why are you so invested that they are the innocent party? They've obliterated the trust that their child had in them (if they had it to start with). They went to the Sun, and that I cannot understand. Go to the police if you're that concerned, not the Sun, with the best will in the world why on earth would you think that splashing the most intimate details of your child's life on the front page of the tabloids would help anything?

Did you believe Karen Matthews? A lot of the women discussed on tattle are mothers - would you believe that everything Katie Price did was in her children's best interests? Jack Monroe?
I didn’t follow the Karen Matthews story, or know who Jack Monroe is so I can’t answer that. I see/hear how Katie Price treats people and animals, I don’t know the same of these parents. So for the moment I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Maybe the parents didn’t think it was a police matter and they were telling the truth when they said they just wanted the payments to stop.

And as I’ve said numerous times I would do whatever it took to prevent my child from dying, even if it meant going to the papers as I said in a previous comment I’ve added.

And what if this is true and it gets brushed under the carpet, will all you adamant these parents are not telling the truth be happy then?

If it’s the presenter I think it is I liked him so my feelings don’t come from disliking him. At this time I just feel unless the parents are both on drugs, or suffering serious mental health issues then I see no reason for them to lie so I believe them, which is my prerogative.

Looks like the parents are also wondering how a lawyer was afforded. 🤔

curious and curiouser
well if he made 35k from this Man, depending on if the OF rumors are true could be making alot more than that.
Though if the parents saw his name on payments does that maybe rule OF out? If anyone knows about OF payments do they show names?

The key word for me is “rubbish”. Some element of the allegations is true, otherwise they would be explicitly responding that they were “untrue”.

The wording is very reminiscent of other cases where defamation is implied, where the allegations are described as “absurd” or “ludicrous”. This then gives the appearance that they are untrue.
'inverted pyramid of piffle' as someone, who is a habitual liar, once said.

Amazed at the amount of people making excuses for HE just because his public image up until know have been clean and family friendly. Reminds me of Jimmy Saville
Jimmy savile- obnoxious, self obsessed, loved the attention, thought he was women’s gift from god- always thought he was a wrong un

scoff-self centred, attention seeker, rude, thought he was smart and took the piss out of folk, thought he was hilarious, wow is me all the time. Bad vibes from him.
HE- only ever seen a nice seriousness from him. Talking about real life issues, depression, the impact of social media ect. Never got bad vibes.
That’s my reasoning and we don’t actually have his name, evidence or the story of what’s went on.

I seriously question the mother here. It’s felt dodgy all along and there’s details that have never added up. We’re almost certainly missing a big piece of the puzzle and the mother feels a likely reason why.
Why what had she got to gain from doing what she did? The lad in question could well be back-peddling, perhaps because the lawyer has told him he could also be in trouble especially if he’s been blackmailing the presenter.
As far as the presenter goes it may not be that straightforward even if he did nothing illegal, it will depend on the contract he has with the BBC.

Has the kid been paid off? I smell some bs. So we are to believe the sun printed with no proof whatsoever apart from the word of a lunatic woman? Gov minister called in, police called in with no proof or a dodgy fake bank statement? BS
I think all of that happened just no pics sent when he was 17

Perhaps the young person has been blackmailing the famous person, and now is trying to backtrack to avoid criminal proceedings.
