It’s mostly her taking photos of people (friends? family?) without their consent, often from through a window or door. She’s so odd.
I think the main issue is that it originated from marginalised groups and is now being used by lots of people/companies who don’t necessarily represent the origins of the movement, and the original intention and focus of the movement is being lost… this article is a good run down. I haven’t looked into it much but just seen a couple of Insta accounts talking about it.
I think blaming people for not knowing the origins and calling them ick is fairly uncalled for given the way true movement has evolved since being on social media. Most people are not critically thinking about and researching Instagram content from influencers and businesses. Should people do better - maybe? But most people aren’t spending that much time thinking about this stuff I don’t think.
It comes up every so often, but agree that it’s not helpful when people mention it but then don’t explain what they mean. Or at least point to a resource. It’s mostly about it being co-opted and the people that it’s meant to be about being marginalised again and pushed out. Was my understanding from the last time I saw it come up anyway
Amy has been quiet on her socials today.. the gofundme has almost reached $20k.
