You don't 'recover' from being an alcoholic, you're in recovery. So actually it would have been very hard for him to be at his own wedding with everyone drinking, and having the temptation there. Just because you no longer drink does not mean you are fixed - ask any alcoholic and you will know it's a battle every single day.


Where have you got the story that he 'ran off' with her? That relationship came to light after he broke up with Lisa, there's nothing to suggest that anything untoward happened.


There seems to be a lot of judgement on this thread which I find baffling. It could be that he was unsure of his sexuality for years and has only just properly come to terms with it. It doesn't mean that he (and she) have known all along and have been hiding it. He may simply have not know himself.

As for Schofield a quick trawl through the Schofield threads on here will tell you that it was pretty much an open secret also it is heavily rumoured he outed himself before the Mcgreevy allegations hit the Sunday papers.

Lastly my father was such a heavy drinker at one point his friends thought he would get the DTs when he stopped suddenly, he didn't and after a break of a few years he had no problems with normal drinking.

And as for Ant's drinking he's evidently recovered enough to joke about it in his speech

can’t understand when divorced women get their children to call the new husband ‘dad’ if they have a father that they see regularly. My daughter and my second husband are the best together but she calls him by his name, now she’s grown up and says he’s the best step dad ever.

He is a multi millionaire after all , I'd call him whatever he wanted if he was leaving me a bundle of cash

Believe whatever you like but there are plenty of photos of Lisa with AM, with her kids etc and now lo and behold AM is married to her husband....wormed her way in there.... Marriages collapsed at the same time, pure coincidence

As much as I’m team Lisa I’d hope she’ll take the high road and ignore them now. As difficult as it must be.

I know but it must be hard particularly when she's being subjected the death by a thousand newspaper articles.

Even assuming that they had the common decency to actually inform her of the wedding date (unlike when they went public with the relationship) she's had months of the snide, goading comment that they wanted a quiet wedding without the razzmatazz of a showbiz wedding always followed by how showbiz Lisa and Ant's wedding was, almost as if Lisa had him forced up the aisle to a wedding he hated, the same stuff with the engagement ring etc with the final touch surely being Dan Wootton's awful article.
The quiet wedding on its own would have been hard enough but to then see a showbiz wedding plastered all over the papers with imo all people who Lisa thought of as friends before the divorce with the finish off of the little dig at both ex spouses with the soul mate reading and that her children call him dad.
The only thing I'm surprised on is he didn't insist on having Hurley involved. (I'm speaking there as someone who can see that although he gave the dog to Lisa they both loved him, but surely crass to fight for custody of him then just buy two new dogs)

Could be or could be neither of them just assumed with the article mentioning they didn't get on and also saying that Lisa sacked her in 2017 when Ant was first in rehab, but as it mentioned AM had complained to Ant about Lisa using her as a skinny, which I assumed to be before Ant's first rehab so wondered if she had tried to sack her earlier as well. Certainly on one DM article there was a comment implying he'd had an affair and paid for their silence with a BMW (Very fast reader who remembers what I read, in case I sound like a stalky weirdo)

The DM comment section is like gold dust. I’m shocked at the stuff that doesn’t get deleted. There was another comment about Ant when he first went to rehab claiming that he’d been caught snorting coke off an escorts tits and there was photographic evidence of it. Also, a poster on mumsnet who claims that she knows people who work in the industry and that Ant is nothing like he portrays himself in front of the camera. I often wonder if the friendship with Dec would fizzle out if they weren’t so tied together professionally.

Totally agree. Anne-Marie’s daughters were not toddlers when her and Ant got together. They would have known his as Mum’s boss, Ant. There is no genuine reason whatsoever that these young people would have naturally started to call him Dad. How hurtful for their Dad to read this. Ant and Anne-Marie seem to have got together whilst she was married to Scott, they cannot whitewash their relationship story.

What’s with Ant’s fist pumping in the photos? It’s as if he’s trying to prove just how happy he is. A smile would suffice but I feel it’s his way of sticking two gingers up at Lisa. Classy. Why does nothing stick to this drunk driver? Anyone else’s career would have been destroyed.

She does seem more like a minder paid to keep him on the straight and narrow than a wife doesn’t she? I think the relationship with Lisa was probably toxic and allegedly she was as much of an addict as he was, but that doesn’t negate the fact Lisa has been treated appallingly and has been presented as the villain in the piece when they were probably both as bad as each other. I think Lisa actually looks really well now, Ant on the other hand gives the impression of a ‘dry drunk’. Someone who has quit drinking but hasn’t addressed the issues that caused him to become an addict in the first place. His eyes always look empty to me. He‘s so keen to present himself as a reformed family man, I hope for those kids sakes he stays clean and sober.

Me too, not me personally but I have seen the effects of both an alcoholic parent and a parent who is a drug user on children, imo the children involved who are now adults are still affected by it and they got out in less than a year (being slightly vague as neither is my story but in one case I was the rescuer and removed children and other parent from the situation so saw a lot of how they were affected, the other case the other parents stepped in and the children were removed)

If as he claims she is his sober companion then surely that means his continuing sobriety will be prioritised over everything else, how can that possibly work with children there. All his millions wouldn't be much compensation if he relapses and those girls are there.

Sorry but I wouldn't want my kids to call their stepdad 'dad' esp as you say they arn't small children. Ant is a miserable bugger off camera. I know someone who met him at a signing and said you could tell he didn't want to be there and could hardly be bothered to smile.

The thing that I thought was wrong was when BGT sacked Lisa.

I bet the appalling little man, even had someone write his wedding speech for him. If you think I'm being a bit harsh, I've just read a remark he made during his wedding speech, about being an alcoholic. There is a time and place for this kind of humour, and this was not the place.
What makes it worse, is knowing that he got off pretty lightly, after the drink and drive accident he was involved in.

Being an alcoholic is no laughing matter, you are right we don't know what when on behind closed doors but the way he stood by and let the press go after Lisa is hardly praiseworthy. We are told by the press he has dealt with it, but who knows for certain he hid the addiction issues for years successfully.
