SameHave any of you see the trailer on IG for the biopic? It looks so tacky, I am disgusted and still shocked that it went ahead.
I don’t think I can even watch this one.

It reminded me of one of those 'docudrama' things that are on constantly. The ones where you have someone who looks nothing like the person act out what is getting talked about.Have any of you see the trailer on IG for the biopic? and the statue doesnt even look like her. the hair and dress are the only way you can really tell its her. it makes me so sad. she was so great, and this is what we are left with. bad statues, and so many sad memoriesWe were in London at the weekend and walked past Amy's statue. Loads of people there taking photos with it. There's a gold sheen to her shoulder from so many people putting an arm around it for a picture. I actually felt immensely sad. It was almost as though, even in death, she still can't escape the cameras and everyone wanting something from her.
Would recommend. He didn't answer her last call late the night b4 she was found dead god love him. Hope he doesn't torment himself over that. When she was pissed she'd phone everyone all night, he'd already left the house in Camden cos she was on a bender and gone to stay elsewhere. She could be an absolute nightmare by the sounds of it. She out and out attacked him sometimes too. Can 100% understand anyone pulling away from the circus. How long could her friends have had all that in their lives heading towards 30, maybe thinking of having kids etc?Her friend Tyler James has a new book about her out soon, called 'My Amy'. It will be interesting to read his take on the situation because they were friends for a long time.
I think it’s clearly a good thing that we’ve become less tolerant of transphobia though! Not sure how being Jewish is problematic now either?I loved Amy she was a star in the true sense of the word.
I do wonder how she would have fared in this crazy world today. Since she died anyone who is influenced by black music and her voice was Billie Holiday/Sarah Vaughan like in style and being white, would she have been accused of apporiating those artists, she was Jewish which is problematic amongst media types now and her song Stronger Than Me she sings about ladyboys so she would probably not be able to sing that because of transphobia. Oh boy how the world has slid of the rails in such a short time.
I'd like to think in true Amy style she'd stick her tongue out at them all and be unapologetic.
I think the posters point was that trans activists will find offence where none was intended. Amy's tounge in cheek lyrics, glorification of old London gangster aesthetics that enshrine strict gender roles and a traditional wife persona weren't at all woke. It's interesting to speculate where she'd have fitted in today, if she'd have grown out of that posturing etc. And posturing it was. It's easier to talk about dying for Mah Man than to be keeping the home fires burning when he's in nick, which she didn't do. Amy was a creation a bit like Marilyn imo. A buffer zone between the real person and the world. Missing out on the music of a mature older wiser Amy is a loss we can't fathom.I think it’s clearly a good thing that we’ve become less tolerant of transphobia though! I am Jewish and know a lot about the politics (and knew Amy very slightly) but will also not get into it here. This was a truly disgusting act of pure racism. Amy was a proud British Jew and Londoner and this has absolutely nothing to do with any kind of legitimate political protest and everything to do with driving Jews out of every part of British life - cultural, social, artistic, academic.I see the statue of Amy Winehouse in Camden has had a Palestinian flag placed over her Star of David necklace, I can't link the article it's on the BBC website.
I'm not going to get into a discussion about the politics of that region as its way to complicated and most people really don't know as much as they think they do but that is a provocative act and unnecessary.

It is very problematic and Amy was a down to earth North London girl and probably never gave the government of Israel a second thought, this is nothing to do with the war on gaza its a blatant hatred of Jews and no one can convince me otherwise.I am Jewish and know a lot about the politics (and knew Amy very slightly) but will also not get into it here. I never thought I'd see a time like this in my lifetime. It breaks my heart, and to do this to Amy's statue just makes me so sick and angry.

I've seen a bit of casual antisemitism in London over the last few months. The sad thing is that it's coming from teenagers. The sticker has been removed

It just shows you how an ideology can suck people in, the most depressing thing about this is when the young kids are questioned about what their marching about they can't answer, infact it's cringe to watch. That is disgusting.

Do we perhaps also think that Amy would be labelled as bit of a 'pick me' girl if she was alive?Amy's tounge in cheek lyrics, glorification of old London gangster aesthetics that enshrine strict gender roles and a traditional wife persona weren't at all woke.
