I usually take Eddie Marsan’s presence in things as an endorsement of quality but this looks bad.
I feel like it was always gonna be slated- some ppl find it in poor taste (the OD scenes and involvement of mitch), it's too soon for some, no one is ever gonna look and especially sound like Amy. So there's legit objections. I just reject and am annoyed by the sort of self-righteous high horse declarations that are all-over SM about no real fan of Amy should go and see this film. Scuse me? Off you duck determining whats acceptable culture. I'll watch anything about Amy and make up my own mind. My daughter and me both big fans- I'm gonna watch it, she would never. Its all good. But make up your own mind and don't pretend you're some sort of purer pedigree fan if you don't imo.
From what I've read, they seem to sugarcoat Blake which has pissed off Amy's friends. She also seems to have made Mitch look like Dad Of The Year while those who helped Amy like Mark don't even get a look in. Sounds like it is not an accurate portrayal at all.
'The convicted thug is understood to have first encouraged her to try smoking crack but this is not depicted in the film as Fielder-Civil is portrayed as an impish and cheeky north London ‘indie boy.’

Im going to watch it but im not sure i will like it going by what people have said, i love Jack OConnell so i would of watched anyway.
Yeah, all of her friends and colleagues have been pretty much sidelined and Mitch and Blake have been put front and centre.
One review said they only show a single brief scene of her recording anything!
They also credit Blake with introducing her to the 60s girl group/Motown type music that inspired Back To Black.

If you have to sugarcoat something so much that they are a caricature...or Disney Prince as some called him, rather than the person they are supposed to be, it's fiction and shouldn't be called a biopic. If you want to show why she fell in love with him then you also have to show why she ended up the way she did and it's not villainising him or casting judgement on him when he actually copped to some of the stuff he was accused of and others who were there confirmed the rest. Maybe if it had been a more willing director fine with going there and showing it warts and all it would have come out better. As well as them having people involved who wanted the true story out there and not those who just wanted to make themselves look better regardless if it was the truth or not.

I said on the general celeb thread that I've got to wonder about STJ and the screenwriter that they whitewashed two of the the worst people in her life and completely disregarded most of those who actually had any care for her.
From interviews, she honestly seems to think that it is a good film, they are celebrating her and anyone who thinks it's tit is wrong.
