What a waste of talent I didn’t know what about her Dad selling Amy’s vests the day she had died. Doesn’t surprise me one bit though.

In terms of music, I always preferred her Frank era stuff, before she became huge. I like the Back to Black album, but the songs were SO overplayed and it’s a shame her older stuff isn’t as well remembered.

Amy was one of us and that was what made her truly exceptional. He talent was surpassed by none and Janis knew this and just was proud. I knew her and was in the same ‘local’ crowd (I have zero talent) but we grew up together and she was always special. Never commented before as it’s not a rave thread and I only have positive things to say (apart from that absolute bleep Blake).

Whenever I even hear his name mentioned, I am furious. God I hate him and I dont care if he thinks he shouldnt be blamed for her dying. I blame him, and her father is right behind him imo

I was re-watching the film ‘Amy’ about her the other night. It mentioned that Rehab was written about an attempt to get her into rehab pre-Blake and pre-drugs to deal with her alcoholism. It was alcohol that liked her, she hadn’t taken drugs in a long time, and also the bulimia pre-dated him too.

Plus it’s easy for the press to point fingers at him when I remember how dreadfully the press hounded Amy, which definitely added to her problems, distracts from their role.

I think the thing with Blake is that a lot of people don’t realise he and his brother went through a lot and had a ducked up childhood. So if you’re pointing fingers of blame, someone ducked him up too.

I dunno. He did his rehab in the city I live in and I used to see him around a lot in the period around Amy’s death. He was a bit of a sad, pitiful and lonely character with a boatload of issues, not the demon he’s sometimes made out to be.

I seem to remember Blake and his mother I think on JK program,His mother..well.he didn’t seem to come across all that good and his mother.

I’m really intrigued by Blake’s background/family. For some reason I had the impression his family were upper middle class - maybe his surname fooled me. I’d be surprised if there isn’t some trauma/serious dysfunction in his childhood.

They attacked a football coach with car keys after he told off their son I remember at the height of Amy and Blake his mum Georgette was always gabbing in the papers, much like Mitch. I did read their youngest son died recently of a heroin overdose so Blake's issues aren't a fluke in his family.

I remember my sisinlaws place where she worked had a lovely boat they used for guests presentations etc,she could get it,we picked boat up Paddington,We had wine,sarnies etc,we travelled up to Camden lock,it was packed we realised it was the day Amy had died,we just heard about it..it was packed..All along the canal.

I don’t know how I missed your post but just wanted to say I intended this to be a rave thread and if you have any stories you’d like to share, I (and I’m sure everyone else) would love to hear them

I havent been in years now, but I figured it probably was. It started when they began building the glass permanent "stalls" for vendors-which while a good idea, kind of changed the whole feel. is there anywhere good left now? Camden was the last holdout of the "old days"

Masses of chains like Pret now and all the food stalls are double the price and in glass boxes and nothing unique to buy, just tourist tat. A lot of the music places I think have shut down

It might be true, but the fact that he is coming out with it now screams that he wants attention and shows him for who he is. I mean he claims he was a friend and then blabs to the media about her.

The fact that in the same interview, he continues to deny that he had a fling with Diana and they were only friends, even though his girlfriend whom he was with at the time, and Paul Burrell who used to help smuggle him in, confirmed it did happen speaks volumes.

He'd be slated if he admitted he did though wouldn't he. Accused of raking over her corpse etc. He's supposed to be a really nice fella, Tricky, of all people, has a lot of good stuff to say about him in his book. He let Amy stay rent free as long as she wanted in Mustique trying to get her clean, it seems like the only shocking/personal thing he's revealed and it's taken him 10 plus years to come out with it so I don't read it as disloyal myself.
