I will never stop hating him. The fact that he doesn’t come off as a villain in this movie is a bleeping JOKE. As soon as I heard that, I was out. No way I will watch this mess. That toe rag Blake is doing alright out of all this on the daytime telly couch circuit. Be a ghost written tell -all book out of him next.
He bleeping fed her heroin when she was at her lowest bleeping hell
Her Dads a bleep too
I watched the family doc and they made it clear they didn't like the Asif one because of how Mitch was portrayed even though in the family one he proved them right about using her for attention by making a thing about how Amy thought he was great and deserved his name in lights and even treated us to a little rendition of him singing along to one of her songs. They said it was rubbish and people using Amy to get attention then on the family doc, one of her friends decided to be a complete hypocrite by revealing they had a thing for a while not knowing whether Amy would have wanted it made public or not.Shocked as duck with what I’ve read about the filmunbelievable.
But! I’ve been enjoying the BBC 4 schedule tonight dedicated to Amy. I love and miss her so much!
The only blemish in the evening is they’ve just showed a doc about her life in ten pictures, and it had her “friends” Naomi and Catriona on it, and they really get on my wick. The things they say and how they talk of Amy are things that you and I could easily say, nothing that could make you believe they were real friends. They weren’t in the Asif Kapadia documentary film, the film that had her actual real friends Juliette, Lauren, Nick, Tyler. The only other time they popped up was in that Winehouse family made documentary. Says a lot, really
That was absolutely awful, and Mitch actually would have signed off on Catriona saying that! I don’t even believe it, but if it were true, it’s the height of disrespect to say it, the last piece of her privacy sold off for no reason at all but to get attention. If I remember right, she even went as far as to say that Amy questioning her sexuality was a big part of her downfall. It was ten years after she was gone and to talk like that is just so uncalled for. I had a good rant on here at the time about it all!I watched the family doc and they made it clear they didn't like the Asif one because of how Mitch was portrayed even though in the family one he proved them right about using her for attention by making a thing about how Amy thought he was great and deserved his name in lights and even treated us to a little rendition of him singing along to one of her songs. I don't think he did come off well in it. He just wasn't a 2D villain either. It also shows her dad letting her down, not going to one of her early gigs. No one comes out of it smelling of roses. It's not the simple black and white thing some people who haven't seen it have decided it is.If Mitch was heavily involved in the film, why is Blake coming off well in it? I can’t imagine he’d be happy about that, but I suppose as long as he is shown as World’s Best Dad that’s the main thing![]()
For all that drugs were a part of her story it was the pedestrian old ale that killed her. She'd been clean of class A's for a long time before she died and she hadn't been around Blake for years either. I bet some of those bleeps who stuck half litre voddy bottles in the impromptu shrine outside her house are the same people who'd have Mitch and Blake in the pillory over her death.
We want simple answers to tragedy. She was a stubborn wealthy woman with agency. Hagiography springs up when someone dies young. Like all addicts she put her family through hell. I always wonder what amazing music we missed out on by her dying but it's equally possible that she might not have done anything else but be papped looking a mess in grotty pubs. The press were always speculating that she wouldn't make any more albums, treating her like a has been, treating her like the punchline of a sad joke. It must've seriously affected her as a woman with an eating disorder and poor self imagine. There's a little story in Tyler's book about a girl in the loos saying to her omg you look just like Amy winehouse except you're a lot prettier. He said she was crushed by stuff like that. Anyway I'm rambling. See the film or don't but I didn't find it gratuitous myself.

Does anyone have the tea on all her clothes currently being sold on ebay? That's presumably one of her 'friends' doing. I assume I can't post ebay links but for example there's a pair of her ballet pumps for 7.5K. Not being sold for charity either.
Agree. She was very weakened with the ED. Bulimia puts a terrible strain on the heart.I personally think it wasn't just one thing that killed her. I mean, technically, yes, she died of alcohol poisoning but her organs must have been shot to tit for years when you combine the drinking, the drugs and probable malnutrition due to the size of her. I think she would have died at some point after she did even if she hadn't been caning the booze - her poor tiny body was subjected to so much.
I haven't seen the film but I think I will. Amy was a unique, once in a lifetime talent and she was let down by everyone around her. She was a bleeping Queen.
I think, sadly, that a lot of people in Amy's circle were just hangers on trying to get close to a bit of fame and a bit of glamour.Shocked as duck with what I’ve read about the filmunbelievable.

I think it's Naomi and Caitriona who are selling it. There's ongoing legal action with Mitch.Does anyone have the tea on all her clothes currently being sold on ebay? Yes I agree when she was promoting Frank she was always smiling, by the second album she looked sad behind the eyes all the time, as tony Bennet said she was a jazz singer, she wasn't meant to perform in front of 50,000 people, more like 50 in a sweaty jazz bar.Watching BBC Later, it was so upsetting to see how much weight she'd lost between her first album and second
She looked liked a completely different person.
And then when they got to the New Year Show, she was skeletal.
She was such a talented person. But drink and drugs can take down anyone
This is exactly what I think too and it really annoys me ha! It seems everyone wants to claim that they were her “best friend” but I would be inclined to believe that her best friends were Juliette, and Lauren, and maybe Tyler who I believe did live with her a couple of times and at the last. The Asif Kapadia documentary is the only source I really trust.Watched the film at the weekend and now re watching all the documentary’s. One thing I was wondering is Tyler says he was her ‘best friend’ in his book. He says he lived with her right till the end. Her friend Catriona also says she lived with her 24/7 right up till the end. Which is it? Who lived with her? Both of them? Also mad how the Amy doc says her best friends are Juliette and Lauren, Tyler’s book says he was her best friend and the ‘reclaiming Amy’ doc says Catriona and Naomi were her best friends. How many ‘best friends’ can one person have???
When I saw the list of items, I could have cried. Single earrings, half used eye liner, driving test manuals. It WAS literally like someone had gone in and grabbed anything that was there. Shocked there was no half used soaps and tubes of toothpaste. So so distastefulI was giving them the benefit of the doubt for a minute, and I do think Mitch is miffed and thinks that he should have that money. But they say these were things gifted to them, and that Amy would have wanted them to sell them. If true and they were strapped for cash then fair enough, but it says they gave 156 items for the auction. That’s a lot of things to have been gifted, I’d be curious to know what they were as there was a lot of rubbish sold at that same auction - a used candle, a tube of Simple moisturiser, empty perfume and body wash bottles, half-used makeup bits to name a few. It just looked like a total raid of her house, like someone had taken every little thing. But the one that grabbed me the most was a Polaroid photo of Amy and Catriona, I find it shocking that it was being sold. Why would she want to part with that? If it were me I would never want to sell that, I would treasure it. Especially as it’s a personal photo, with my so called “best friend” - to me that tells me exactly what to think of Catriona.
The half little stub of eyeliner finished me. Vultures. When I saw the list of items, I could have cried. Single earrings, half used eye liner, driving test manuals.
