I had a vague memory of this story from Janis’ book too, here’s the part.
You can learn to hide it. I had a drinking issue at 13 because of issues/problems and not only managed to fool my parents, but go to school daily and no one knew, even though I always had a half bottle of vodka in my bag that I drank from whenever I could. It was only when I realised myself I was in trouble I told them and they found out.She was an alcoholic by the age of 14 ?
I’ve never seen this claimed before .
Where did you read this ?
If true , it’s utterly shocking .
Where on earth were her parents ?
Yes, that’s exactly where I saw it too. Janis was watching her drinking one Southern Comfort after another, downing them. She sat watching and just thought ‘Amy’s an alcoholic.’I think this was in Janis's book (correct me if not OP!) where her mum/grandma seen how Amy drank and it looked like someone with a problem with drink, probably the pace of it, rather than her actually being an alcoholic at age 14, more like an indicator maybe.
Still think of her often![]()
Just a typical Jewish family I think - high days, holidays and parties. Mitch was a black cab driver so I don’t suppose could get away with being a huge drinker.I wonder if the parents had a lush lifestyle - were the family drinkers with lots of access to alcohol and family dos and parties? Her dad always seemed a bit of a nightlife person, were any of her wider family drinkers?
My dad used to make his own beer and my grandad made his own - lethally strong - wine, it was quite normal to have a sample when I visited when I was 13/14 which is wild when I look back on it. My brother burned through his pancreas in his 20s and I definitely drink too much - it makes me wonder about Amy growing up![]()
I read an article this morning and it seems the judge had his number from the start and called him what he was...a greedy piece of tit only interested in money and threatens when he doesn't get his own way. He has ducked up as he now has to pay just under £1m to them within two weeks and will have to pay their legal costs as well.
He knew 100% what was going on with Amy and chose to ignore it so he could try and get fame off of her back. A perfect example being the lines in Rehab where people told her she needed to go but he disagreed and said she was fine. He has shown many times he is the selfish piece of tit he is often seen as. Even in the Reclaiming Amy documentary, he had to get in about him being a singer and how great he was. Then there is the film that granny groomer directed where she only took his and Blake's words for stuff and unsurprisingy, had him as a brilliant dad, only wanting what was best for her when his own actions and behaviour showed and still continue to show the complete opposite. He is vile. You don’t need to look too far to see why she was so damaged.
