As much as I think she's fake, super needy and triggering with her content, I don't think she needs to remain one weight forever because she's an "influencer". She's incredibly self obsessed and completely lacks self awareness, but losing weight is fine and I agree fundamentally that people's weights change for a variety of reasons, and it's not hugely interesting. The only thing she's been kind of ok doing, I think, is recognising her privilege for being in a normal sized body and quick to say how she benefits from that recently.
She's still incredibly irritating though! If she's a 12 now instead of 14/16 I don't think it means much really. The body positive movement is not really about weight as such.
it's not about her being an influencer though. it's the way that she labels her account as promoting "body confidence" and then conceals her body in huge, baggy, oversized clothing during a heatwave because she's feeling self-conscious, but predominantly because she has built her following on the concept of being anti diet culture and body acceptance etc, thus the majority of her followers have/are recovering from an eating disorder or a disordered relationship with food, or struggle with body image issues etc, sharing messages about how it's fine to gain weight, and how you shouldn't compare your body now with how it looked ten years ago - yet recently she's been using those messages as a way to share comparison photos between her body now and photos of herself when she was in the depths of her eating disorder and at a low weight - which is obviously going to be triggering for many of her followers! she is using her platform, which supposedly promotes "body confidence" to share pro ana content - both images of herself at a low weight, and images of emaciated celebrities lik Mary-Kate and Ashley back in the 90s when heroin-chic and emaciation was the body ideal - which she is fully aware places her vulnerable followers at risk, especially because the photos of low weight celebrities she shares are photos she specifies that
she found triggering when she was younger!
it has nothing to do with the fact she has lost weight - it's her behaviour and the way she is using her relapse as an opportunity to drag other people down with her, which is disgusting in itself, but more so when the people she's placing at risk are those who have supported her over the years, and essentially built her successful career as an influencer! her behaviour is totally inexcusable and she is taking advantage of people she knows are vulnerable. i don't care if she loses, gains or maintains her weight - i care about the fact she is regularly sharing content which promotes eating disorders, because there is absolutely no excuse for that.
