That reel made me feel physically ill. As someone who has battled bulimia for over a decade, and is now a weight I’m happy with and feeling secure, I watched that and ended up body checking in the mirror getting ready this morning, looking at my thighs etc.
How patronising is this though?
and I totally agree with this comment. Seeing those photos just brings back all the intrusive thoughts that led to nearly two decades of eating disorders for me. What does she think she's achieving

Can they find us from screenshots? Lol slightly freaking out in here
I guess because it’s a message she replied to so she could find it from that. I doubt Alex’s “management” can track the source of any screenshot (hi Alex)

No they can’t, don’t worry. I messaged her from my personal IG account then shared the screenshot, so it was obvious where it originated, it’s not rocket science, neither is finding my other comments on Tattle
We’re allowed to dislike people and their actions. They choose to make their opinions and behaviours public, they can’t have it both ways - just the same as being an actor or a famous musician, people are going to criticise and comment on what you do, that’s just life? If you can’t cope with the negative comments (by the way, I certainly couldn’t! But also, I’m not an influencer!) then perhaps you’re in the wrong career?

Hi Alex’s management.

I strongly suggest you have words with your client. Yoshe’s been reported multiple times to ASA for not flagging adverts properly, she’s clearly suffering from some sort of mental health break as addressed within this forum. As a result of aforementioned mental health crisis, her messaging is becoming damaging and destructive for those she’s claiming to want to help. I genuinely believe she needs actual, real, medical help right now and it’s worrying that those close to her aren’t helping her seek it.

As for Alex’s bafflement over why someone would previously message her positive comments (as I used to when I first followed her, interestingly I never even got a ‘like’ on the messages let alone a reply) then change how they think and/or feel, it’s because her messaging and her output changed. I followed her at the beginning of the pandemic and found she helped me, her messaging seemed new, fresh and honest. I don’t wish harm onto her, however, it needs to be addressed the harm that’s being done by this sudden, and alarming, rise in her sharing a mass of photos of her during her low weight.
she's perplexed that people's opinions of her are going to change when she has totally changed in terms of acting totally disingenuously, purposefully concealing affiliate links and turning the content of her "body confident" SM platform into one which regularly shares unnecessarily triggering images of both herself at a low weight and underweight celebrities. but ofc you are the problem, highlighting her problematic behaviour when you used to be supportive. 🤦🏻‍♀️

if Alex's management team regularly frequent tattle 👋🏻 then they are obviously very aware of the damage her content is causing and the risks her reels and photos pose to her more vulnerable followers. man the duck up and intervene. tell Alex that her content is damaging and negatively impacting her followers, and placing them at increased risk, and encourage her to take a step back from social media while she addresses her mental health and the issues she is clearly struggling with. if you care even the tiniest amount about Alex and her wellbeing, that would be the appropriate action - not ignoring the issues while simultaneously highlighting to Alex that people who once supported and respected her are now raising their concerns on tattle. if she isn't at a point where she can see that is a red flag, her management company certainly should be able to - and by refusing to intervene - for Alex's sake as much as the safety of her followers - you are failing her, while also publicly supporting her sharing content that is incredibly damaging to the mental health of others - is that really behavout that you, as her management team, want to be held accountable for?

YES ! This ! Being a manager for an influencer is NOT just ‘you’re doing great sweetie’ it’s facing up and having the hard conversations, telling them when they’ve ducked up and then, SHOWING THEM HOW TO RECTIFY IT! It’s why you shouldn’t have mates / family manage you, unless they’ve got experience

Also it amazes me that influencers don’t realise how much more likeable and honest they seem / come across when they say ‘I’m sorry, I ducked up and I see that. Thank you for highlighting this and I will work to change’.

I have a feeling her 'management ' is her younger sister so not a hope in hell of any accountability..

I think the problem with being paid duck loads for doing duck all is that it affords you the false reality that you’re somehow special and should be treated as such. In a normal 9-5 job if there was a problem you’d expect to be held accountable for it and you’d have to put up with that, but because they sit at home receiving pay cheques and being fawned over by brainless teenagers and companies who are just using them as cash cows they think they’re untouchable and that we should all follow on. I reckon they’re all just super defensive really because they know their “profession” is utter bile and they can’t handle the truth.

She’s hooked on the likes, the adoration, the attention and the money in the exact same way she was hooked on her ED. Same tit, different monster.
And if she’s employing family members there’s less likelihood someone will step in and tell her how dangerous it’s become for her.

Her dig at Tattle is SO predictable. Yes some threads on here are pretty savage but for the most part I find it's just people wanting to have a discussion without being shouted down/blocked/called a troll.

Alex is only interested in her echo chamber. Her refusal to discuss any opinion that differs from her own is absolutely the reason forums like this exist.

It's the change in her that is soo noticeable too. She's gone from producing interesting content that was organic, she was approachable and kind and funny but now her hang dog mouth and sour expression, with the annoying voice over ads and regurgitated content coupled with the really spiteful outbursts and responses doesn't make for a pleasant experience. But I'm sure she will continue on, after all she has another clothing collection to flog!

Well if you avoid the Demi Donnelly threads (which are still pretty funny) then it’s mostly just people who aren’t allowed to openly disagree with hypocritical and ignorant things that these influencers are doing.

This is what makes me so uncomfortable about influencers. It’s a job (similar to modelling, acting etc) where you’re public facing, and public facing means you get a huge amount of praise AND criticism. Imagine if every time Taylor Swift or Jennifer Lawrence got negative comments they went on angry rants on their stories and blocked a whole bunch of people. I doubt that would be their agent’s advice, and I doubt their career would last for very long.
The way I see it, influencers have two options when they’re criticised. You can either accept it, admit you were wrong or something was flawed or you made a mistake (we’re human and that’s fine!) or you can aggressively fight your corner including blocking people, getting into angry comment wars, or encourage your followers to attack those who speak out.
It is a genuine shame that more influencers won’t do the first option,I think it would only improve their profiles and the general experience of the internet

also the post she reshared from tinder translators - ironic much?!

Agree with this 100%. It’s just painful at this point

yet equally, if it's true that her management is her younger sister, surely she would be even. more invested in Alex's wellbeing and mental health than a general management team, so it speaks volumes about their relationship if even she refuses to intervene and supprot Alex to take a step. back, avoid totally destroying her career AND her health, and get the supprot she needs to get herself out of this relapse. she may refuse to take responsibility for the damage that Alex's triggering content is causing other people, but you'd think she'd at least care about her sister enough to step in and talk to her, rather than reading everyone's concerns and ignoring them, when her sister obviously isn't well - and is needlessly dragging other people down with her.

Alex doesn’t have real management …🤣 Alex just doesn’t have anything better to do than trawl through her thread on here.
Perhaps she might need to address that - that won’t be helping her current state of mind. Everybody is right, “influencers” want this limelight of adoration but they are so naive to believe that everyone will like them/share their opinions and beliefs.
I too, used to really like her, it was a friend that introduced me to her platform but she’s just changed so much.
Someone mentioned defensiveness - I guess there must be a large part of these influencers that feel imposter syndrome, I mean they hardly work hard for their money, but with that, they must also feel (like us) that the bubble will have to burst at some point, or they are just so worried about being cancelled.
I don’t know if that makes any sense - I think I’m just really pissed off at her message back - patronising witch

Rant over lol

Also, this is aimed at Alex and/or her management: The reason I came to Tattle with the screenshot of ‘Sorry this triggered you’ is because frankly I was shocked by Alex’s reaction. I opened up and said I was triggered by her images, and her response was essentially nothing, providing no help, not even sending through helplines? I understand ‘I’m an influencer not a mental health professional’ but you can’t pick and choose! In my opinion, Alex showed in that instant she’s not interested in having a productive conversation to protect vulnerable people following.
Having previously worked with various mental health organisations, I know how cautious the NHS, Samaritans, PAPYRUS, BEAT etc are with their wording and their messaging on social media, and you can’t just flippantly post these extremely triggering images at random.
Please I implore you to listen to these messages, Alex is potentially endangering vulnerable adults and that needs to be addressed. Seeing the comments about her latest reel be ignored as she posts ads for bedding and talks about heartless curls shows a lack of empathy for her users. There’s so much help out there, BEAT and Samaritans have some amazingly helpful resources for how to discuss mental health issues and eating disorders online in a safe way that won’t trigger people, I really suggest you read it and take it on board.

She wants all the upsides of tapping into ED audiences without any of the responsibility. It doesn’t work like that

Is she for real? Is she reading here and just doing it on purpose now to be spiteful?!
I think she’s genuinely in a very very scary place mentally - I feel so sorry for her that she has all these people around her who aren’t intervening
