UPDATE on Pen Farthing out in Afghanistan - Ben Wallace is seemingly holding up their departure as he says he's " not rescuing 'pets' " but as Pen pointed out - the plane is privately funded and already paid for and the animals will be in the hold & not occupying seats so WHY is this happenning?

Limited landing and take off slots I imagine.

It's not Heathrow with the tech abilities to land a plane every 90 seconds, or space to park them all, or fuel to refill them all, or loading crew for them all, or ground crew and servicing vehicles to do all the stuff a plane needs to be turned around, or enough soldiers to keep each plane secure once landed and parked. Not to mention the additional monitoring and measures to make sure each plane lands and takes off safely and gets away safely when there is an ongoing threat of any one of them being shot down.

They've got planes from all over the world wanting to get in and get their citizens, not just a handful of US and UK planes.

So quite feasible that they can't just let him and his charter plane in at the drop of a hat and disrupt everything for the more organised stuff.

That said I do hope he gets on his plane and gets out of there sooner rather than later so we can stop hearing him bleating on every day and stealing headline space from so many other worthy problems that there are in Afghanistan right now. It's not all about him!

I know. Now we get to see if he turns up at the airport through all the checkpoints and somehow past all the crowds still at the entrance gates that everyone else is waiting at. Or do squads have to be tasked with dropping what they're doing in their last couple of days there in order to out to get him and his team and the dogs instead. The saga continues.

It might be a military helicopter that picks them up and transports them to the main airport. Some of those are very big and will be able to get loads of people in.

I think one of the articles mentioned a Taliban taxi or something of the like

Another rescue (American owned I believe) has also had help from the Taliban to get supplies of dog food and other items. They had also (though it may have also been another shelter, it’s hard to keep up) asked the Taliban to not interfere with the shelter when they first entered the city

I’ve just been reading the latest news re Pen and his staff and animals. I’m almost in tears to think of those poor animals in that heat. Please God may they all be allowed to the UK for safety.

One puzzling thing. Quite a few negative comments in the Daily Mail. Basically saying the current situation is the fault of Pen.

I don’t know the background, or about Pen himself very much,but I did donate because I love animals and they are always forgotten in times of war.

I think what hasn't been widely reported/ignored to fit the MSM agenda is that he has funded the plane privately. All animals will be going in the cargo hold, and all spare seats on the plane will be offered to people (legitimately) trying to leave the country.

RE the car - if it was fitted with intelligence that could be used to the Taliban's advantage I can understand why it was loaded on, but that doesn't explain why it's therefore okay to leave tonnes and tonnes of other military equipment there

Though there’s an image here which suggests that some may have been unloaded but it also may just be the cats. There’s videos of the dogs being sprayed with water elsewhere and it seems that they don’t want to unload because it would attract too much attention. Though at the same time, given that they need to be there till Friday morning they may do so now

It does appear that Pen may be able to get through without issue as he's a British citizen, but his staff would be stuck. Not sure if animals could go through with Pen to at least be loaded into the plane and back to UK, suppose Pen could stay back afterwards with his staff

So a ISIS type group are said to be planning the takeover at the airport. If that happens, I can't imagine what that lot will have planned for the Afghan women and men.
